My husband's birthday fell on Easter and we received an email advertising their special Easter buffet deal. Have always like the Schnitzel Lodge food at previous visits so decided to do his birthday dinner here and take advantage of the brunch special. Mad a reservation and showed up right near our reserved time.
Positive points was the Charteuterie Board and Mimosas was a nice addition to the special price. However, the buffet was VERY poorly run.
We arrived and there was no host at the door so we waited not even being noticed for a while, then had to flag someone down to say we were there. When they finally took us to the back patio to be seated we had to wait again while a table was cleared big enough for ourparty of 3. We sat and waited more until a server finally came to take our drink orders. We took our time going up to the buffet bc when we arrived the line was VERY long and the inside dining area was VERY crowded due to the line. Our reservation was for 12:30 and it was 1:00 before we actually went up to get food. The line was shorter but people were standing waiting for Schnitzel to be replenished, which was the main meat choice. We waited another 5 minutes or so then finally Schnitzel was brought out. Nothing on the buffet was really hot so cooled quickly. The spatzel was basically empty and not being replenished so I passed it up and my husband scraped the bottom to get a small serving. Soup looked good but there were no clean bowls available, so we waited AGAIN. Upon returning to our patio table we still did not have eating utensils or drinks delievered and had to ask the server for eating utensil when she finally brought drinks. All the while the food we had waited for was getting cold. About half way through the meal they finally brought the chartreuterie board which should have been brought immediately upon seating as an appetizer not half way through. My husband ordered another mimosa and they got that fairly quickly but my ice tea was never refilled and the first one was not iced well. Dessert choices were VERY disappointing as they were basically small cupcakes and choc chip cookes, nothing very German. We were expecting maybe German choc cake and/or strudel. Service, was slow...reservations could have been set up much smoother and food was not replenished quickly.
We were told they hadn't expected so many people BUT everyone had to make a reservation so this was a VERY poor excuse for simply being unprepared and for poorly executing their plan. They did give us a to go box for the char. board items which went largely untouched bc it came so late in the process.
All in all was a very disappointing experience for a place we usually like and for a meal that was $80+ for 3 people. It is my understanding they have done this Easter buffet before but this year was NOT done well.
