We have tried the restaurant twice now, once in its old location, and once more in its new location in the Plaza adjacent to Publix.
All we can say is this, if your from the U.K. go to Publix get some chicken pieces along with a Sharwoods curry sauce, some rice, some peppers, this will give you a far better Indian experience.
The only positive from this restaurant experience is that the people are decent and friendly, unfortunately the food has no bearing on any Indian you have had before.

We “found” Island Spice on East Bay Drive after its relocation from Bradenton Beach. If anything the food has improved from it’s original venue. The ingredients were fresh and of good quality. The seasonings were superb. If you like Indian, this is your only option on the Island. Indeed, it is a nice respite from the usual island menu.

Stopped by for lunch recently, we were the only customers. Service was fast and friendly. I had chicken vindaloo and my husband had the chicken curry. Both were excellent....we were a bit disappointed with the naan. Our fav Indian restaurant back home has spoiled us by serving large pieces of naan dripping with butter and garlic. The naan here is 4 petite squares with minimal butter and garlic. Overall worth a second visit!

Tried once last year and thought they were perhaps having an off evening, so gave it another shot. Nobody there, so had no excuse. This is not Indian food. If you are looking for canteen food that is spicy with everything just slapped on the plate including the rice..fine. To even state they serve Indian food is a disgrace. Just lets leave it at that.
