Recently visited this museum with the Miata Club of Southwest Florida. The museum staff was very accommodating to our group. Although the museum is smaller than I anticipated, it is very informative. I would definitely recommend taking the docent guided tour rather than a self guided tour. The building and grounds around it are very attractive, although part of the boardwalk is still in disrepair due to Hurricane Irma. I would suggest that you take in at least of the boardwalk to get the feel of the Florida Everglades.

It was lovely to get away from the frantic pace and intensity of most of south Florida for a few hours. The staff were friendly and the film and various displays were quite informative. Nothing went into very much depth...it would have been ideal for younger children.

The board walk was well designed and had useful information boards. Probably because of the combination of season and time of day, we failed to see any wildlife of note.

I’d have liked to learn more about the relationship between the Florida Seminole and other ‘wings’ of the tribe, and the links with Hard Rock International. But worth a visit and great to see the Seminole culture being celebrated and nurtured after so many tough times.

The museum shows a lot of history about the Indians that lived in the area. It highlights their struggles against the other Floridians and how they lived prior to and after the Europeans arrived. There are numerous displays and interactive activities and is fun for a couple of hours. You can even also see Billie Swamp Safari right up the road the same day.

The exhibits at this very welcoming museum are designed to inform visitors of all ages about the history and culture of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The museum itself is a state-of-the-art facility that also works to preserve the tribe's history. If the weather permits, be sure to explore the wooded area along the boardwalk behind the museum.
