The museum and centre is not on the beaten path, so you need to make the effort. But if you want to find out more about the Seminole, their culture, and their history, you will find this fascinating. Well laid out exhibits give a sense of these people, and we found the children's storytelling enthralling. Afterwards, a walk along the boardwalk through the forest and to the craft huts, and back into the cool of the centre.....3 hours enjoyably spent. ! And look for the huge alligator in the pool as you walk over the bridge towards the perpetual fire smouldering by the entrance!

This museum is located in the Seminole Indian Reservation in the Cypress National Preserve. The museum is professionally designed and is awesome. Taking the walk on the 1 mile boardwalk was great fun and visiting the Village with artisans at work was so interesting. The drive through the Everglades to get there added to the fun. Suggestion: bring insect repellant for the 1 mile walk through the Cypress Preserve.

Small, modern, well organized museum showcasing the fascinating Seminoles. Good 18-minute introductory video, and lots of displays that illustrate Seminole culture and lifestyle. I would have liked more historical detail about arguably the most fascinating Indian tribe in North America, and I find it curious that no mention is made of the African-American members of the Seminole Nation. There is a book about them for sale in the gift shop.

This museum does an excellent job of representing the Seminole Tribe, and for anyone truly interested in their history and culture then it's somewhat isolated location should not be a deterrent to visiting! This latest visit was my second and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The starting point is a short film explaining the Seminole's past, present and future then there are the exhibits which I would encourage visitors to take the time to read the write ups on each and everyone. These people's history is fascinating more so when one realizes the trials and tribulations they've had to endure to survive!
They are a proud people who cherish their culture, and steadfastly hold dear their traditions to pass them on to future generations. An interesting fact which is a source of pride for the Seminoles is the fact that they along with their close relatives the Miccosuki are the only Native American tribe to never have signed a peace treaty with the Federal Government so technically they're still in a state of war with the Federal government.
The museum also has a wonderful boardwalk with explanations on local flora and fauna and how these relate to the Seminoles.
One recommendation- I would definitely suggest visiting this area during Florida's cooler months because I'm sure that any visit during the summer would be uncomfortable at best with the heat, humidity and mosquitoes making for unbearable conditions!
