This place has a lot of hype because of its history, but it also shows its history in some of the rooms. There are other hotels that have a great rooms, a rewards program, and have nice(r) amenities. The rate is fair for the market, but again there are others out there that are exceptionally good and less expensive. I believe Hotel DuPont is one of the most charming hotels, but it doesn't live up to the competitors as of right now. They are going through a renovation and I have stayed in one of those rooms in the past, it is very nice. Once the renovation is complete I would imagine this property will again be one of the great places to stay in the area again.

Spacious rooms, friendly staff, best location around...a little on the pricey side on the weekend, but worth it. Try the scallops in the French restaurant attached (appetizer).....we came back just for them.

It was such a breath of fresh air to actually have a service staff go above and beyond. From the bar tender to the ladies at the front desk and the valet everyone was top notch! I wish more hotels would take note and extend the same graciousness to guests.
