We agree with everything in the reviews below about the quality of the accommodation, the setting of the villa complex and the warm welcome from the owner. It was a delightful place to stay and we would go back like a shot.

Just two things of which potential visitors should be aware. Firstly if you plan to use Samonas as a base for touring it takes something like 25 minutes to reach the main E75 road on a twisty minor road. Not a big problem but worth building into your planning. Secondly the taverna along the road from the villas is friendly but the menu and the wine were quite basic when we were there in April, and there was not much atmosphere as there were hardly any other customers. If we were going back we'd self-cater, and make more use of the fine selection of food and drink available in the little shop on site and the lovely view from the terrace of our villa.

Thank you for taking the time to write and post this review for Samonas. We are happy to read, that everything during your stay with us was as you had expected them to be.
Unfortunately we have not any influence to the nearby taverna, so we can not promise that things will be better at your next visit, however there are many other taverna's at the area, and as you say you can get benefit of our fully equipment kitchen and the well stocked, little hotel’s shop.

It is one of the best villas in chania which ,undoubtedly, highlights the greek traditions as well as the amazing hospitality of greeks as the owner is both genuine and it is easy to tell that he has put his heart and soul into it!☺
To sum up, having been there a couple of times, i recommend this villas to anyone who wants to spend his vacations in a peaceful place with a breathtaking landscape.❤

Small hotel complex in a village with perhaps 30 inhabitants. The facility has been created with great attention to details. We discovered a very pleasant atmosphere. Above all, the silence is impressive, no annoying music, which is often played in Hotels. The view over the valley and the mountains and to the sea, is outstanding, we enjoyed it from the roof terrace and from the balcony. The rooms are fully equipped, very clean and very comfortable. Outside you can find a sheltered seating with a BBQ. You will find a small shop inside the facility, which offers some articles you may instantly need (without the need to drive quite a distance to the next supermarket). The (optional) breakfast, which is freshly prepared every morning, is very lush and creative. Thanks to the friendly lady from the service! The nearby tavern (walking distance 4 minutes) offers a small selection of traditional Greek cuisine, away from the usual, which we normally consider to be Greek. Operated by two very friendly, older ladies, it is worth a visit. In summary: I can recommend to spend some time in this jewel.

Away from the crowds, set in a small village on a mountain side, this is a one-of-a-kind setting. Private, quiet and beautiful - both in the natural setting and the built environment (which is restored and "new" villas). Great personable host, attentive and available, but unobtrusive. Nighttime sounds are goat bells, nighttime sights - amazing number of stars. Balconies, verandas, and great areas to sit, rest and contemplate. Highest marks!
