Horrible Business trip Experience!

You need internet never stay here! Want to watch a movie Forget it. Need to do a Zoom call Forget. Need to browse the internet. What takes you 30 seconds at home will take you 30 minutes due to the lag.

Dear Ryan,

I am writing to express my deep frustration regarding the persistent internet service issues at the Residence Inn Tustin Orange County, where I have been staying for an extended period for work, paying over $5,000 per month. Over the past two months, I have repeatedly reported the inadequate internet speeds, which have consistently been around 0.72 Mbps for downloads and 0.52 Mbps for uploads. Since my work requires a stable and reliable internet connection, these speeds are far below acceptable levels, making it nearly impossible for me to perform my tasks.

Despite escalating these concerns multiple times to both the engineering department and hotel management, the issue remains unresolved. I was informed by the engineering team that the problem was due to a faulty router and that it would be fixed. However, it has now been well over four weeks, and the issue still has not been addressed. I was offered the option to switch rooms, which I agreed to, but I requested to test the internet speed in the new room before moving. Upon testing, I found that the connection was even worse. When I asked the engineering team why I was directed to a room supposedly having a stronger internet connection, I was told by Jose that his team had not actually tested the connection in that room.

I escalated this matter to the hotel manager, Ryan, for the fourth time, and he assured me that he would schedule an emergency service call and resolve the issue within 48 hours. It is now 72 hours later, and not only has the issue not been addressed, but I have also been informed that Ryan will not return for another three days to look into it. This continued lack of follow-through is incredibly disappointing and has left me without the essential internet service I need for work. To add to my frustration, the management has now stated that they cannot assist me in ending my stay or help me find another hotel that meets my internet needs.

Additionally, when I contacted Marriott Rewards, I was told a ticket would be filed, but it would likely not lead to any resolution since this is a franchise hotel. When I inquired about escalating the issue to the franchise owner, I was told by the onsite property manager that the hotel is directly owned by Marriott. I then asked how to escalate further and was informed the property is managed by Apple Property Management, but when I contacted them, they stated they do not manage this property. This contradictory information suggests that I am being deliberately misled, which is incredibly frustrating. As a Platinum member, I am shocked by the poor level of service and support I have received.

The prolonged lack of reliable internet is highly disruptive, especially given the nature of my extended stay. The connection is not only unstable, causing frequent disconnections, but even when connected, the speeds are so slow that streaming or video conferencing is impossible. It is unacceptable that, despite multiple reassurances, the hotel's management has neither resolved this issue nor provided a viable alternative.

I am requesting immediate action to resolve these internet problems. If the issue cannot be resolved promptly, I would appreciate a more permanent solution. Moving to a different room with a better connection is clearly not an option, but I request that you at least provide a mobile hotspot and replace the faulty modem, as your team has indicated is necessary to resolve the issue. I have already attempted to escalate my complaint further within Marriott's corporate structure, but I am being told that they are not responsible for handling this dispute and cannot provide guidance outside of the onsite manager, Ryan. Unfortunately, Ryan has consistently failed to take any meaningful action, both during and after his working hours, to ensure that hotel guests are taken care of.

Perfectly fine and well situated hotel near the highway for overnight not far from Chapman University. Many groups were here (making the lobby area a bit chaotic!) during our visit and we appreciated the premier Bonvoy room upgrade. Breakfast was great, especially the tasty waffle making opportunity. Kids seemed to enjoy the conveniently located outdoor pool. Would definitely stay again if visiting the area.

Our second stay in 6 months. Both stays were great. The rooms were clean. The staff was accommodating. The complimentary breakfast was a great way to start the day. A drive-thru Starbucks shares the same parking lot! Appreciated the close proximity to both John Wayne Airport and Disneyland.

Hotel is quite new and very clean, but needing maintenance with some of their equipment.

When we checked in, there was only a room available facing the highway. It was so noisy and added with the construction that's currently goin on, it was unbearable. So we asked to move to another room away from the highway.

We managed to move to another room, checked into the room, and found out that the food disposal machine was broken as the previous guest who stayed in has put in a plastic cap cover into the food disposal machine. We had to call the maintenance to take it out. After it was taken out, we found out that the machine was broken and when the food disposal machine was turned on, the whole kitchen sink shakes and gives a very loud noise. We asked hotel to put us in a different room but rooms were unavailable. We suggested to have the maintenance team switched the disposal machine from another available rooms that is empty, but they were unable to do so.

Because of this, our whole stay was quite unbearable, as whenever we enter our room, we had to smell the wet garbage that was supposed to go into the disposal machine for our next 8 days there (we booked our stay for 10 days). We asked few times to the front desk if they can fix it, they can't do anything about it as they said they have no idea when the parts will arrive.

Not only that, I thought Marriott has a No noise policy after 10p.m as stated in their hotel stay policy, and no guests should be partying at the pool area. However, on the night that we stayed there, about 12 plus people plus kids was partying down next to the pool and it was really loud and they stayed till about 11.30p.m. When we called the front desk to complaint, there's no one picking up the phone.

The flooring of each floor was also very thin as when the upstairs guests was moving on around or dragged the heavy metal chairs, the noise was just really bad. We had to call the front desk at midnight and an unfriendly night front desk gentleman was not helpful and not keen on resolving the problem.
Till after my 2-3 night calls more for the next few days then the noise subsided. One of the morning front desk was really nice though. I can't remember her name but when I told her about the problem, she right away was understanding and note the problem and said will resolve the problem. After that, the noise was really manageable.

Perhaps hotel should put something under those chairs so when its dragged around the room, it doesn't make so much noise to the room below.

Hotel does not offer any resolution for the food disposal, not managing their hotel No noise policy well, and only a handful of the front desk person was nice.

Being a Titanium Elite member and stayed with so many Marriott hotel for the past 20 years, its definitely been the most disturbing & disappointing stay. Not only we get sleepless nights, we get smelly room to stay in as well.

If it was not a pre-booked stay, we would have moved to another hotel. Should have asked for a refund for our hotel stay.. :(

Pretty disappointed in this Marriott property. I travel for business regularly and only stay at Marriott. When we walked into the room for our two night stay, it had a musty smell. We turned the air down, and it improved. The first night was miserable as the mattress was harder than any mattress I’ve slept on at a Marriott property. It was like sleeping on plywood. The next day, too unpacked to make the effort to move, I took a shower and noticed that the shower was moldy. We went to sleep on the second night and the mattress was so hard that I found the vinyl couch more comfortable, but it was a terrible nights sleep. I contacted the front desk the next morning expecting they might at least offer some points for a horrible stay, but all they offered was a token apology and suggested we come back and stay and give them another opportunity to try their property. We of course will not be.

We had the 1 bedroom suite.
The bed and the sofa sleeper were very uncomfortable
The kitchen was ok, not fully equipped tho.
There was dog poop right outside the outside door for over a week.
The washers and dryers were very nice.
