Our family of five booked 2 nights at this hotel as a stopover on a highway 1 drive and it proved to be a perfect choice for us.
The room was spacious and had all the amenities we needed. The indoor pool was a good size and the gym was well appointed.
The breakfast had a really choice and the cook to order option was a real bonus.
The complimentary drinks and snacks in the evening were a real winner for us.
All of the staff we met were very friendly (especially the barman in the atrium bar) .
There is some building going on nearby (on an adjacent lot), although we were aware of some noise in the morning it did not affect us.
For us this was an excellent hotel that ticked all of our boxes.

I've stayed here a few times before, but not since a major remodel. The rooms are clean and modern, everything was in working order. My room had the bedroom window overlook the interior courtyard, so it was fairly noisy, but that is my fault for not asking to be moved. Nice people, good service, quality breakfast, quick elevators- what more do you need? I will stay here in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that doesn't overlook the interior courtyard.

The customer service is exemplary. The morning made to order breakfast is the best in the industry, and the evening reception is something to look forward to. Our daughter will be attending Cal Poly in the fall and we anticipate many more trips to this property.

Hotel is clean, staff were helpful. The breakfast was nice, because you can order an omelette or eggs or there is a variety of hot and cold foods already prepared. Our suite was nice, clean, modern, only bad part was that the bathroom was small. Pool was big enough but the pool room was very cold. Overall 4/5 stars.

My wife and I spent two different weekends at the San Luis Obispo Embassy Suites in June 2018. First, June 14th to 17th for my daughter's graduation from Cal Poly SLO in room 424. Second, June 29th to July 1st to help my daughter move out of her apartment. On both occasions we had a great stay and I would highly recommend this hotel for travel to California's Central Coast.

PROS:

1) EXCEPTIONAL STAFF. I want to commend this hotel for the great job the staff did for Cal Poly graduation weekend. During that weekend, just about every hotel room for 50 miles is sold out. I had booked a block of 4 rooms for our extended family back in the Summer of 2017 because I had wanted us all to stay together. Of course, come graduation weekend the hotel was sold out but the staff did a great job handing the volume of guests. I also wanted to thank Andrew Jenest from the hotel who was able to secure a handicapped room for my elderly parents when I had made an email request a month prior to our stay.

2) A WARM WELCOME TO CAL POLY PARENTS. For graduation weekend, the lobby of the hotel had many green and gold Cal Poly decorations up that made for a great backdrop for pictures. The staff also wore Cal Poly shirts to show their Mustang pride. I really felt like they wanted to go the extra mile to make Cal Poly parents feel welcome.

3) THE USUAL PERKS DONE WELL. As you would expect, the hotel offers the expanded free breakfasts and evening receptions for which Embassy Suites are known. Having stayed at several Embassy Suites in the past, I would say that they are done really well at this location. My request for egg white omelets was handled each morning with a friendly greeting by the breakfast staff and the bartender at the evening reception did a great job handling the crowds.

4) CONVENIENT LOCATION. For those not familiar with SLO, the hotel is located off the Madonna Road exit, behind a large shopping center, up against Highway 101. The shopping center has a Ralphs Supermarket, Kohls Department Store and many other stores. From Highway 101, head west on Madonna Road and make the left at El Mercado (you will see a Panera Bread on your left). Take El Mercado through the shopping center almost until it dead ends and then make the right turn into the Embassy Suites parking lot.

A TIP:

1) If you are visiting SLO on a Thursday night, be sure and visit the Farmer's Market on Higuera St. in Downtown SLO. Aside from the expected produce and local fare, many restaurants have booths set up and sell some of their favorite items. A great way to sample several restaurants in one night and fun people watching.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from Highway 101 if road noise is a concern.
