As a frequent Marriott guest I would say this property fits the Marriott standard. The room we had was a 2 bedroom lockout style, and the layout worked very well for a family of 6. Daily tidy service was very good, and they bring fresh pool towels daily. The room is acoustically challenging as the bathroom doors do not come down close to the floor! Coupled with a linoleum floor it makes for an interesting stay.
Overall, its pretty safe to say that Marriott Platinum members are not recognized, so best to adjust expectations prior to booking. Best available room, extended checkout, and other marriott perks are not available. We were in a second floor unit with no view.

Driving up to this Marriott Shadow Ridge II you get the feeling of an expansive area with a huge golf course. The registration area is dramatic with the huge registration desk and expansive high ceiling with spectacular lighting. The location is great, very close to the I-10. Very family oriented with something for all ages. There are time shares which appeal to a lot of families. There is a Marketplace attached to the registration area but is pretty pricey. There is free wi-fi, free parking, multiple outdoor pools, splash pads, kiddie pools, hot tub, business center, 24 hour fitness center and putt putt area. It is a very large complex with over 600 villas. Close to theaters and shopping areas.

We have stayed here before in older section (Villages) which was very good. Also Palm Desert Marriott timeshares are great. Been Marriott vacation club owners for 15 years. This one is just odd. Not what we have come to expect. The biggest issue are the bathrooms. All other Marriotts have large showers and separate soaking tubs. Not here. Tiny bathtub with shower curtain. In both of our units. They call it a modern design. That's fine but they need to keep the basic bathroom amenities! We barely fit in that tub! Also the master bedroom is separated from living room by large floor to ceiling movable/sliding door. Not sound proof at all. Highly recommend their other developments. We won't return to this one.

This review is for The ENCLAVES at Shadow Ridge. I stayed in a 1 bedroom deluxe for 1 night in December 2016. Sadly, I wish I had stayed longer! This was the last phase of construction for Marriott's Shadow Ridge. It only consists of 5 or 6 buildings at the very end of the road. It is a quiet location and they have their own pool area so you you don't have to go far. There are barbecues between every building. I was surprised to find the new floor plans are on the small side. Very contemporary in design, the kitchen is pretty well equipped, although there is NO hand mixer! The kitchen opens up to the living area, and the outside deck. There are two large sliding doors that open which gives you the feeling of being outdoors! The deck was very large! Perfect for the cooler weather. The usual comfortable Marriott bed with fluffy pillows. The bathroom was nothing specular and only has a shower, there is NO tub! The shower is pretty unique though, they have two square, flat shower heads recessed that give you a nice stream of water.

I thought it a little odd that there was a window in the master bedroom which was right on the walk way. At night it is extremely well lit, so even with the room darkening curtains light crept through. The master bedroom has a wall of stackable sliding doors that open up to the living room. For a short stay, it was nice. I understand that the guest portion of these are pretty small, a 100 sq. ft. smaller than The Villages. If you are only staying in a guest suite, I recommend you pick another property.

Shadow Ridge is a very large complex, over 600 villas. There are multiple pools, exercise rooms, put-put areas, and other amenities. The main club house is very nice, and has a nice grill restaurant. They have a Starbucks with fresh pastries in the morning next to Reception. It is easy access to the freeway, and a straight shot down Monterey to the Mall.

The do have elevators in the buildings.

We stayed here while in town for a family event, and the resort offered things to do for all family members. The pool areas were fantastic, with splash parks, wading areas, and plenty of seating areas. There were decent food options available, but only for part of the day. Most dining facilities were only open for short hours. There is a market on the property, but it is ridiculously overpriced. Since most people drive to this resort, my suggestion would be to drive into town and go grocery shopping to stock your room for your stay. The rooms themselves were nice and in good condition. We booked a larger suite since we have kids, and also to have a place for other family members in other rooms to be able to visit and entertain for a larger group (we had a two bedrooms, a full kitchen with stove, dining table, and large seating area). The balcony and views were also very nice. One other item to note is this property is owned by Marriott, and there is another JW Marriott right nearby, so be sure you know which one you are booking (something one extended family member did not realize). The prices were a little expensive for us only being there a couple days and spending time off site at the family event, but if you take advantage of all the resort amenities and have more relaxation time, this is a great option in Southern California.
