Excellent hotel - walking distance to everything, friendly staff, modern clean quiet rooms, fast free wifi, secure parking and great bathrooms. Would recommend also visiting Wave Street Cafe right in front of the hotel, great coffee and breakfast.

Well located with good service and amenities. Good internet and comfortable beds and large rooms. People at reception were nice and professional. Would recommend to both business, families and friends.

We are on our second night at this hotel in Monterey. Location is GREAT for families. Close and EASY walking distance to everything; including, the aquarium (we have a toddler age 3, and another child age 6). Room is decent size, clean, and beds are comfy.

Only gripe is the extra $15 they charge per day for parking and there are ZERO amenities at this hotel. Free wifi is included but that should be assumed at this point. We only have 2 coffee pods in the entire room and one roll of toilet paper. We don't like/need housekeeping while we are traveling so it's nice to have enough supplies to get us through a night or two. We had to call and ask for a do not disturb sign which i thought was weird; no room service; no guest laundry or any laundromats near by (literally - which is weird considering how many families travel here).

Other than that, staff is pleasant - just don't expect a whole lot. Overall we would consider staying here again because of the comfy beds and location. Price was pretty affordable.

Room Tip: Great location for families - easy walking to cannery row and aquarium

Hello VenturaMama77,

We are very appreciative of your review and want to thank you for sharing your experience with us. We were all thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your room with its comfy beds and close proximity to Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We regret to hear that you were disappointed with the amenities that we offer and our parking fee. It has always been our practice to be transparent regarding the fees our guests pay and do so by including this fee in all confirmation letters and on our website under the Services we provide. We will certainly pass on your comments regarding other services and hope to welcome you back to Monterey again soon.

Sincerely,
Management of the Inns of Monterey

Once this was the Otter Inn. It has updated and redecorated the property, but many of the old quarks stay: No breakfast or lobby coffee, you get a bag of three pastries and a granola bar from Costco, The plumbing is still loud from other rooms, the floors squeak and the elevator is memorable. The location is very good, and will be aided with the completion next year of a new part of the Monterey Aquarium across the street. The redecoration is modern and it is pleasant. The pricing is now more in keeping with the properties on Cannery Row but it is not able to be on this level. The added $15 a night parking makes it a better bargain than the Row, but you can find a more fitting property away from this location and pay the $15 to park at a street lot by the aquarium.

Room Tip: The ocean is close and you might see it between the buildings

My friend and I loved our one night so much, we stayed for a second night. Everything was provided, Cynthia and John at front desk couldn't have been more accommodating. The room was more than comfortable and could only be enhanced by comporting the lighting with the rest of the room's comfort level by installing dimmer switches. Just lovely.
