Great facilities and service. The place lets you feel the history but is extremely well maintained and easy to use. The swimming pool is beautiful too. On top of all that the Club staff went out of their way to help us when we had a little problem (unrelated to the Club).

but when we asked for a vegan option when we sat down for the breakfast we had paid for included in our room rate we were told that what had been served was it and if we wanted anything to suit our dietary requirements we would have to order off the menu and this would be charged to our room. This seems wholly unfair and was such a let down when we left without any breakfast.
Otherwise the hotel had good, clean facilities with a super comfy bed. The car park is accessible through lifts in and out of the hotel lobby which was very convenient.

I loved this property, probably one of the coolest hotels I have stayed in. I love history and this place is packed with it! The Fitness Facilities are the best you could get anywhere and included with your room rate. I beg you to explore this place. Yes it is in Downtown LA, and although Downtown LA is certainly in a full swing rebirth, it is a OLD Downtown with homeless and grime ( not the hotel). So don't expect "Disneyland" if you have kids with you. The best part of the hotel besides the history was the staff. Special shout out to: Front Desk: Toni, Kash, Maya ( brand new, but AMAZING CHECK IN..Great hire), and Kim. The restaurant staff gave us a memorable dinner and breakfast. The wonderful George, Megan, and Mazie. Number one shout out to the best Manager who made our special stay so very memorable was Teri the Director of Sales. She was everything above and beyond. I recommend our suite the Yacht Club Suite ( room in the pics) or the Country Club Suite.

Room tip: Spend a bit extra and get a suite

From booking to check-out, my experience at the Los Angeles Athletic Club Hotel was easy and comfortable.

Prior to checking-in, I had questions about a possible early check-in. Though that was not a possibility, the Hotel Sales and Marketing Director Teri went above-and-beyond to provide superior customer service.

When checking-in, staff was inviting and informative. We stayed in the Bruin Club Suite which featured UCLA themed decor. Very comfortable, tasty coffee and teas, and quiet. The hotel is also conveniently located with lots of great eating options for every budget within walking distance.

My only critiques were that the room lighting could use an update (a little dark/yellow) and the bidet needs a repair. Additionally, when we arrived for breakfast a few minutes after 7 am staff was not prepared. We ended up having to wait about 30 minutes for food we ordered off the menu. However, the continental breakfast was ready quickly.

This hotel, which actually its not, is very old and moldy and it feels/smells that way. This place was built in 1880 and it feels that way. Here are the issues with our stay.

1. We weren't told there was going to be a 'DJ' fest going on 2 blocks away at an park that started at 5 pm - 12 am, that the bass was so loud that we were on the 12th floor and it was vibrating the room. Basically like being in a war zone for 6 hours.
2. The lighting in the bath room and shower was like from a Physco movie. Very dim.
3. The connection for the phone was pulled out from the wall and had no cover.
4. The tv was so small about the size of a laptop screen, the beds were so far away had to sit in an uncomfortable chair to watch.
5. The 'Hotel' (again we don't believe it qualifies to hold that name) is centered in 'old' downtown LA, they have to lock the doors at 9 pm. On the street, extreme amount of homeless and not friendly ppl. Not a place I would stay with a family. We have two younger kids 13 & 9 and this was not a place I would recommend staying.
6. The AC didn't work, the 'maintenance' guy came by and said, 'well, yeah I guess its not cooling', said he was going to check and see if they could move us to another room, No such luck as they were booked due to the 'KPOP' concert at crypto.com center.
7. The 'continental breakfast' is a complete joke, they brought like a small 3 tier like tray that had like 2 cold crescent's and a couple of sauces on it. That was it. Most 'continental breakfast's include eggs, cereal, bacon, sausage, etc.
8. We ordered a simple breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes. There were only 5 tables occupied in the entire dining area. It took 45 mins to get our bfast and it was disgusting. The pancakes were burnt, the eggs were cold, the sausage tasted like it had been dropped on the floor and rubbed in some kind of cleaner. I stated the same to the server and she came back and the only thing they did right was to 'void' the check. After an hour of waiting and crappy food. McDonalds has a better breakfast than this place.

This is by far the worst 'hotel' I've ever stayed at. I've stayed at better hotels in 3rd world countries that are 100 times better than this place. I've been to over 30 countries and this one is the worst ever. The best place I've ever stayed are hotels in Manali Philippines.

Room tip: Don't stay here!

Was very pleasantly surprised. The room was top notch and the athletics facilities were top notch. The only negative was the location. It’s not a great area and nowhere really to walk. But I wouldn’t let that stop me. We really enjoyed our stay
