I have never been more disappointed in a hotel stay in my life. My husband and I stayed overnight at the Days Inn (City Center) in Long Beach on 10/12/2019 while traveling through California. We were disgusted by the lack of cleanliness in our accommodations. From unclean surface areas, to broken doorways (patio), to a complete infestation of ants in the bathroom and sleeping areas - the room was not fit for rental. The receiving area was so small that only a few people could fit in the room at a time. Every available surface was sticky and unclean. The food offered was stale and expired - except for the bananas. The staff were friendly (and apologetic) when we could find someone - but were rarely available. The grounds were unsafe. Many times we noticed people (not guests of the hotel) wandering the parking lot peering into people's vehicles and looming near the vending area - although the vending machines did not work. The glass patio door of our guestroom was open when we arrived. The patio screen door was detached and just sitting up against the wall in the patio area. The room stank of mold and feces (I think that is what that smell was...). The couch still held a previous tenant's sexual aide under one cushion, and the surface was sticky (gross! - was this room available for rent by the hour??), the bathroom sink area was overrun with ants (that came from the drain and a hole in the ceiling), and the bedroom was crawling with ants (along the crown moulding at the top of the walls, all over the end tables, and hundreds -maybe even thousands- along the headboard). My husband recorded the entire disgusting thing on his cell phone (including the telephone clearly displaying the room #, the clock, and the guest key). We had originally planned to stay 2 nights but were so disgusted that we canceled the next days' reservation and left as fast as we could get a cab to pick us up. We were told there were no other rooms available, and every other hotel I called was booked already (it was after 9 pm). I was told I needed to speak to the assistant manager the next morning, who never arrived (as far as we were aware). We spoke with other guests the next morning who experienced many of the same issues that we did. Several people chose to congregate in the parking lot (waiting for rides) after the sun came up (as did we) rather than staying one more second inside their "guestrooms." As far as we are concerned, this horrible establishment should be shut down.
