Had friends in from out of town who wanting some middle eastern food for a change, so having eaten here in the past thought that this would be a good place to go. Unfortunately for us the place has become really popular, and the management it seemed had taken advantage of this, by squeezing tables and chairs into every nook and cranny. Which means the kitchen is working like crazy to keep up with the orders. We had a reservation for 7pm and only had to wait fifteen minutes to be seated. Once we had carefully by passed the water on the floor from the leaking overhead light fixture we were seated in a nice booth at the back of the restaurant. Service was very nice but slow due the popularity of the place, we ordered an assortment of appetizers, which were ok. The Mezza sampler, spicy humus and veg grape leaves were nice. The Filet mignon pita was perfect, the lamb pita, beef kabob, with the salads were nothing special. Having lived in the middle east for many years I have eaten lots of falafel balls, served in many different ways so was a little disappointed with my order of them here. But there again we were in Belmont shores no Beirut.

TIP: Order the Zonin Prosecco for the price it’s a good buy, and goes with just about anything.

This Open Sesame restaurant in Long Beach is highly rated, but we found it to be only average. Our food did not come out as ordered, and the staff was extremely busy, so resolution took some time. We did not receive the personal attention we thought we should given the issue. To sum up, the food and service was only average. They were really busy, so our experience may represent the fall of their success.

We went there on a Friday night, so it was busy, but we had our table within 25 minutes. Manager helped us as we waited longer than promised in the beginning (thank you). We ordered food, and pretty soon we got it... barely warm. Main course arrived maybe 5 minutes later. Again pretty cool. Everything was ok, but nothing like I remembered from my previous visits at other location of Open Sesame at Beverly Blvd. in LA. Number one is always fried cauliflower, which was overdone and cold. Lamb chops were ok, but not great, Lebanese pizza turned out to be a extremely thick dough with some feta cheese and tomato (do not recommend for sure!), while sea bass became a trout (price was still for a sea bass). A cake with cardamone and pistachios was good, but Turkish coffee? Wow, that was not even close to Turkish coffee! I have to admit though that hot tea was really delicious (and hot, for a change). Overall, staff is very nice, but they have to improve the quality of food.

We ordered an Open Sesame Combo. One for each of us. It tasted deliciously and seemed quite healthy. We highly recommend this restaurant!

Second time to eat here. First time was a dinner with friends and all that was memorable was I did not feel a need to return. Recent visit at lunch confirmed my first impression.
My lunch of a lamb pita sandwich with “French fries” was very unremarkable, especially for the price. The sandwich was presented wrapped up tightly in paper with a “lamb” sticker on it. Looked very much like it had been pre-made and had spent some time in a warming oven. It was more like some type of burrito and was almost flavorless except for some hummus spread inside. The meat was very un-inspiring.The French fries arrived a very pale color, soft, wrinkled and almost flavorless. I do not think they were deep fried - maybe air fried. Had to ask for ketchup and any seasonings had to be asked for (we did not bother)- nothing on the tables.
Total was almost 50 dollars for lunch (iced tea for drinks) for two. Really do not understand the popularity of the place - we won’t be back.
