This place has potential, great views, awesome live music and really tasty cocktails. Service at the pool was awesome with live music during the day. love the firepits and the majority of the front desk staff was really on point. Where this hotel falls short is the with Director of Front Office, Michael Samawi. During my check out experience, a very frustrated looking Michael missed several points of service. I was not greeted when I approached the front desk, he did not ask me how my stay was, and he did not smile. when presented with my final bill I mentioned that the union protest woke us up that morning and really disturbed my autistic son. Michael noted that the hotel had already waved a meal charge for the union disturbance. I pointed out that was for the first night when the union was protesting up and down by the pool disturbing my autistic son so much that we had to leave the pool area and return to our room. I have over 10 years in the hotel industry as a Director of Engineering and know what level of service to expect from this type of hotel. simply put, Michael was less than professional, did not show empathy with our issues and appeared to judge me based on my skin color. I spend a lot of money annually on family trips to hotels, while there I spend even more on food and drinks, I even make it a point to properly tip all the staff I encounter including housekeeping, bellmen, and wait staff. I had also asked Michael to make sure our keys would continue to work after our check out so that we could enjoy the pool and spend a little more money. He said that wasn't allowed, never in my life have I ever heard someone say that we couldn't enjoy the pool after we checked out. I told Michael that I have experience in the hotel industry and wasn't asking for anything out of the norm, reluctantly and not in a friendly manner he arranged for our key to work past check out. Hotel Maya, do better!!!
