This place was very nice. Best views in the area. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. We only stayed one night but will be back for more. Room was nice and clean, bed was firm with memory foam. We had dinner and drinks, then breakfast and coffee on the balcony.

Taking safety measures
Amazing view of the ocean -- the only way you could get any closer is if you camped on the beach. We didn't have a balcony, but we threw the windows open wide and strategically placed the lounge chairs and it was the next best thing. We loved watching the waves and the surfers and the walkers and the dogs and the sunset and the sound of the ocean at night.
BUT:
- no one was at the front desk at 2 pm (the check-in time); we called the cell phone # on the sign at the desk and no one answered and the voicemail was full. We wandered the halls to find the manager
- the manager doesn't wear a mask and guests aren't required to wear masks in common areas
- the free breakfast has unwrapped breads, cheeses, prosciutto - straight-up not safe
- security is lax - the top floor rooms aren’t key carded, you enter a 4-digit code, and they don’t seem to reset the code between guests (there was a post-it on the back of our room door with the code, in case you forgot it I guess)
Specific to our room, the Pillar Point Suite:
- no drapes on the windows - normally not a problem, but we arrived in the middle of a heatwave and drapes would have helped the room stay cooler
- the window in the shower and the window above the toilet are stuck open and don’t close - not a problem during a heatwave, but I could see that being annoying on cooler days
- the desk has a large ship model on it and no desk chair (I know, you don't come to a hotel like this to work, but I do)
- it’s called a “suite” but it’s just a large room with useless space – a walk-in closet that runs the length of the room, a short hallway between the sleeping area and the bathroom with a totally empty wooden wardrobe (no rod for hangers, no hooks, etc.), a lounge chair and footstool positioned awkwardly near the door, and the tiniest toilet area ever.
You absolutely can't beat the view. But I really didn't feel safe here, either in terms of room security or COVID-19.
We had a wonderful time here - blissful to have the fire on and the balcony door open to the sound of the ocean! The location is fantastic, the rooms are beautiful, breakfast was great and the host is extraordinarily kind - I forgot something in my room, and she delivered it to me personally some distance away! Really recommend highly.
We loved this place! Beautiful inside. Comfortable bed, nice relaxing bath, and little patio to sit and watch the waves. Great restaurant next door. So close we can hear the waves crashing from our bed. Free bikes to ride was a great extra. Ann was so nice and accommodating. We will definitely e back!

We were recommended this hotel by a friend!!!! Wow!!! Words can't describe it. The location is absolutely amazing, right on the oceanfront, you can here the surf all day and night, it's so relaxing. Ann the owner can't be more helpful, her communication by email is very good and quick. We had the Miramar Suite, two huge bedrooms, bathroom equipped with everything you need, hairdryer, towels, toiletries. There's a huge fridge where you can store your own water and wine. The bed is massive and extremely comfortable with beautiful bed linen. Then there's the view!!! Takes your breath away . There's also a shared balcony with table, chairs and sunlounger. Breakfast and the breakfast room is great. Very well furnished and the best continental breakfast. Heaps of coffee, teas, fresh juice and fruit, watermelon, cheese, hams, selection of breads and pastries, yoghurts and cereal. Again Ann is there to chat and top up your coffee. You can also take a tray and take your breakfast back to your balcony. The hotel is also on a coastal walk that you can walk for miles. It's next to the Miramar restaurant and not far from Sams Chowder. There are surfers minutes from the hotel that are worth watching. Also your not far from Half moon bay village, a cute little village with lots of unusual shops and eateries. We will definitely return and wish we could've stayed longer. After a day of exploring the Redwoods down in Big Basin we drove up to stay at the Oceanfront Inn. We had the Porto room with an excellent beachfront view. We ended up spending most of our time on the balcony watching people and dogs walk on the beach. Very relaxing and quiet. Highly recommend and hope we’ll be back someday.
