We stayed at Great Wolf Lodge this past weekend for 1 night to celebrate the birthday of a family friend. We arrived early a little after 10 AM and were pleasantly surprised that we were able to check into room 454 through one of the kiosks in the lobby. It was a family suite and cost $474 for the night plus $40 parking. It was a lot for one night but a full day at the water park was factored into to the cost, or at least I keep reminding myself of that.
The room was pretty basic with a loud, dated air conditioner but was pretty big. The beds were a little bothersome and my 11 year old woke up complaining about her neck. We've never heard that from her before. The room was a ways from the only elevators which were so crowded we used the stairs, even when carrying luggage up and down. The elevator area is a pretty big bottleneck and people appeared genuinely confused how to make the whole thing work so we avoided them as much as possible. Bathroom was old and the water pressure in the shower was pathetic.
The saving grace of this place is the water park, obviously. My 11 and 7 year old daughters had the time of their lives. My 11 year old went on every slide and in every pool while my 7 year old only skipped one water slide. They were on cloud nine and we spent about 8 hours in the water park on Saturday. After a while my wife started to struggle with the chlorine indoor air but it wasn't as bad as I expected. The lazy river and the wave pool were great for the kids as well. The 4 person family waterslides were the best.
For food, the pizza place near the entrance of the water park was surprisingly good and the buffet had plenty of options and was pretty reasonable for the $26.99 price.
I'll give this place a 4 for my review with maybe a low 3 for the hotel but a 5 for the water park. It was a lot of fun.
