I really wanted to like this property. From senior staff to restaurant/bar personnel to concierge to check in to housekeeping to parking, all were personable and helpful. Food and drinks were good, delicious even in several cases. Sheets were luxurious.

However...
There are places that are worn and in need of repair. Some were mechanical issues. Some were a missing drape or holes in another. Dirty couch. Uncomfortable bed (2 different rooms).

For $400+ a night each room, + $37 & tip for parking, $15/day for Internet each room, etc etc - in my book, that just shouldn't be.

The coup de gras was a party and/or wedding not far from our room. There was no getting away from the EXTREMELY LOUD MUSIC. (I'm shouting because that's about what we had to do to be heard in our own room.)

We've been told this section will be renovated soon but honestly, unless they move the tent that appears stationery, I'm unclear what good that will do on that last front.

Will NOT stay here again.

Thank you for your review and kind comments about our staff. As you can imagine, the upkeep of our guestrooms is of the utmost importance. The property has a detailed maintenance program in place to ensure the quality and cleanliness of each guestroom is always of the highest quality. We do understand that you came during a busy time and we are fortunate to have these busy weekends, we regret though that it wasn't the quiet you were looking for. We appreciate your feedback.

I stated a lot of Marriott properties. This property has a fantastic location and the rooms facing the ocean all have a partial view with the trees blocking most of the view to the south. The bar scene was very active on a Friday and a Saturday night. The rooms are small but the rooms facing the ocean all have a really have a decent view. The service was reliable and friendly. The facility is within walking distance of the beach, harbor and some local restaurants and shops. We had a very nice stay.

This is a great bluff top location with beautiful views. Located next to a park with many walking trails. It is a short walk to Doheny Beach and Dana point Harbor. Parking is valet only, $37 per day. It is a very well kept and gorgeous hotel. Unfortunately, everything that you buy there is ridiculously overpriced, such as; bottled water in your room - $6, cocktails - Irish coffee $13, Manhattan up - $18, food - just went offsite because it was waaay cheaper. To their credit, the $25 resort fee (per room, per night) included use of bikes, boogie boards, surfboards, yoga mats, shoe shine service, tennis, and putting greens. We ended up around $300 per night when you included the valet and resort fee. Bring your own booze and eat offsite. If I wasn't there for a special event, I would not have chosen this place to stay because of the extremely high price.

I completely agree with previous reviewers in that the resort fee combined with the valet only parking is a bit galling. It feels like Marriott are adopting a budget airline approach to their charges and I would prefer more transparency.

We opted for the breakfast included rate and the buffet breakfast was excellent. Room was standard issue Marriott, but the bed was very comfortable. Nice pool areas and the sun loungers are also extremely comfortable. Its a great locations, lovely views of the ocean and the facilities are all of a very high standard. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: request a room with a balcony - not all of the standard rooms have this

Dear Geraldine,

Thank you for taking the time to complete the Guest Satisfaction Survey in regards to your recent stay at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa. I was happy to hera you enjoyed the buffet breakfast at our Vue restaurant!

We appreciate your feedback regarding our parking and resort fee rates and will certainly take your comments under review. In recent parking and resort fee surveys we’ve conducted with our fellow resorts located on the coastline, we have found our parking and resort fee rates to be in line and are actually the most economical
