Stayed for 2 nights on the residence side during the summer holidays with my family. Although it was my first visit to the hotel (and Niseko), it has become one of my favourites. As a large part of the staff were non-Japanese throughout the hotel, communication was usually easier and likely to be more detailed in English.
We arrived at around 15.00 when the check-in was smooth enough regardless of the number of guests on the day. We entered from the hotel entrance as we did not know where the entrance for the residence was, but the staff was kind enough to move our car to the residence side for us.
We stayed in a one-bedroom residence and loved the private 'onsen' in the room. I did not use the shared onsen and spa, but I would like to try it next time as I heard the water source is different for the private and shared onsen.
The good thing about the room amenities for me was that the size of slippers/nightwear etc. was relatively large. As I am rather tall and large for a Japanese, it is not very common to find somewhere with amenities large enough to fit me perfectly. As a gender equalist, however, I needed to question the necessity of distinguishing toothbrushes and razors for men and women.
The downside of the room was the inconvenient location of power sources. Although the dining table was the only table or desk (except for the kitchen counter), power sockets were only available at the sofa or by the window close to the floor. Since I wanted to retouch some photos on my laptop, I asked on the phone if a power extension was available or if there was any other power source closer to the table, but the answer was no. I believe this is something that can be improved.
Also, the water pressure of the shower was on the weaker side for a nice hotel in Japan.
Another thing I did not like was that the quality of housekeeping varied significantly through the stay. Some noticeable dust and somebody's hair was found on the first day, while rubbish bins were not emptied during the daytime housekeeping and the towels were not checked in the evening service on the second day.
Nevertheless, people were overall very lovely, and especially Sebastian in the lobby lounge made our experience very satisfying. There was a minor mistake during breakfast, but the way of recovery was more than perfect.
The dinner we had at Molière Montagne was quite enjoyable too. The French restaurant made full use of fresh Hokkaido products to serve in its own unique style, so the whole course was full of surprise.
I pretty much enjoyed the whole stay at Park Hyatt Niseko. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Hokkaido, looking for a getaway from the city, or even longing to experience an English-speaking environment in Japan. Of course, skiing will be the primary purpose of stay during winter.
I really hope to come back to Niseko again very soon.
