My wife and I took our two children ages 18 and 9 on this excursion. We were promptly picked up at our resort and driven to the facility in an open air bus. It took us about an hour to get there.

We arrived at the facility that is filled with ATVs and side by side buggies. They have ones that will fit a family of 4 too though we chose to take 2 separate buggies. We attended a briefing and were quickly taken to our buggy. You will have to wear a helmet and it’s good to wear a handkerchief and glasses as it gets very dusty and muddy. We drove to our first location which is a beautiful beach with great sand and blue waters. There are a ton of venders on this beach and you most likely won’t want to leave your personal belongings on the beach unattended while you swim. We took turns swimming while one of us stayed with our stuff. You have only about 20 minutes at the beach and you are hurried back to the buggies.

We drove to a second location to “swim” in the blue hole cenote. Everyone in the group was walked in a line to the cenote where you walk down the stairs into the water that was lit up by blue lights. Everyone was crammed into this tiny pool. It was a refreshing dip and out you go. We were escorted to this area where we viewed a quick show by a few local natives dancing. After that you were taken to a building to buy things if you wanted.

Back to the buggies and a quick drive back to their base. We parked the buggies and were funneled into another store to buy things and pressured into buying photos. We of course didn’t.

Few things to consider: Do wear glasses and a handkerchief. Wear old clothes or a swim suit, swim shirt, sandals or water shoes. You will NOT have any time to change clothes along the way. Everything is rushed. They have their process down to get you in and out! The buggies have seen better days. They are old and run down with several breaking throughout the excursion. You will not get to drive fast or even get out of line. This is definitely not some back country buggy adventure. You follow a dirt road. Cross a main road several times and that’s it. You are in a huge group. Bring your own camera or phone. We had a waterproof case for our phone and it was adequate

There are several companies offering the same excursion but we definitely saw better equipment out there. All in all it was fun but don’t have high expectations.

I liked the tour it was good to see countryside, hit a beach then go to fake village/waterhole but wow did we drive slow. I don’t know if it is to drag it out or if my group was slow but I want to open the ATV up and go on a good trail/road. Most of the time on a road we could be doing 50km we were doing 20 or less.

Look at the other one and two star reviews, they basically nailed it. I'm not sure how anyone can call this a great excursion or a unbelievable adventure. Crappy go carts, a fume-filled ride down a filthy road to a trash filled beach where you are hounded to buy crap. Mass chaos.

A fairly average dune-buddy ride, but the 'stops' are what make it special. You go to Macau Beach (beautiful) where you are able to swin and explore for a few minutes .. I would say like 15-20, which is really enough, imo. Then you take a long drive to a cultural area that has some informational and historical information about the island, and then you get to swim in a cave, if you are so-inclined. I was, and it was great! They are efficient, their transport is comfortable, the dune buggies (we did the TerraCross version) were very nice and easy to drive. I really loved the whole experience.

It's supposed to be Adventure booties but you follow each other in single file, there is a list of don't it's very steady. The caves and the beach are beautiful but you are rushed through so they could get the next group in. Probably ok for families.
