Location and pool lovely. However, food very poor. Coffee at breakfast cold, pastries stale and apple juice very watery. Dinner expensive but equivalent to a cheap bar meal. Room ok but toilet in first room broke. In the second room we were put into the toilet was coming off the wall. Room floors are pretty creaky so you will hear people above you too. Really not what you would expect for three hundred pounds per night. Worth about one hundred per night max.

Room tip: Third floor loch side

The hotel’s location is the big draw here. Beautiful views and central Highlands location with lots of places within driving distance. The hotel unfortunately is in need of an update. We had to move rooms after a few days as the floors were so thin and creaky, we could hear every little movement by the people above us. The noise was so bad, it would wake us up any time they moved to go to the toilet in the night. The receptionist wasn’t surprised when we requested the move, and looking at previous reviews, this problem dates back to 2016, so it’s really not acceptable that it still hasn’t been addressed. We moved to the top floor which solved the problem. However, our window handle broke off in our hands and the beds could have been more comfortable. They were still not servicing the room unless requested, and claimed this was due to Covid, but seemed like a cost cutting exercise. They still occasionally entered our room to empty our bins, so this excuse didn’t really stand. Both times when they emptied our bins, they left our room unlocked. We had to request more toilet roll and a room clean halfway through. They still didn’t change the sheets. Staff on the whole were not the friendliest (with the exception of a small few). Some of them did warm up as our stay went on. The pool definitely needs some attention. We found clumps of hair around the edge first thing in the day suggesting it hadn’t been cleaned, and the locker feet were rusted with one sheered off. Breakfast was a basic buffet. Probably fine for a passing visit, but after a few mornings we could have done with more choice and better quality. There weren’t any brochures or ability to book things from Reception. Food at dinner was hit and miss. Some things were lovely whereas others were not. Kids pizza came with lots of onion cooked into the cheese - seemed strange for a kid’s option. On the whole, we had a lovely holiday, but the hotel definitely didn’t deliver for the price we paid. Even just a few small changes could make a lot of difference.

Room tip: Request a top floor room.

The quality-price ratio is absolutely disappointing. The rooms of the hotel need reforms. The rooms are not clean and the water of the swimming-pool is absolutely dirty. The sauna has been out of work for months, It's very expensive, and you just receive an amazing landscape view.

Dear Josep Maria C,

Thanks you for your feedback in relation to your stay with us at isles of Glencoe. I am disappointed to learnt that you felt some aspects of your stay did not match your expectation. As mentioned to you in an earlier response, the hotel bedrooms were refurbished under 2 years ago and I can assure you the sauna has not been broken for months and is fixed only delay was getting the appropriate parts. In relation to our swimming pool the water is filtered and monitored including chemical dosage by computer daily. Our pricing is reflective of similar hotels in this area.

Kind regards

Overall a really memorable stay. We had four rooms for a big family reunion and the staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Breakfast felt basic and evening meals at the restaurant were lacklustre, especially steaks. We ate at Fish, Ballacullish Hotel one evening and found the quality of cooking to be a much higher standard. Could not fault the enthusiasm or effort of the staff however, despite clearly being pandemic scarred and understaffed.
The rooms were well cleaned and comfortable, the scenery breath taking. The sauna wasn't working throughout our stay but the kids made full use of the pool. Will happily return here in the future.

I was sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the standard of food and the choices available to you and I have shared your feedback with our Head Chef and Food and Beverage Manager for their review going forward.
