Just incredible food, wine and service in a great relaxed restaurant. Faultless, friendly, fabulous.

A la carte or fixed menus options. Either would be good - we chose a la carte and, wow, it was fantastic.

Particularly enjoyed the assistance in choosing a couple of special wines for each course.

My wife and I spent a night at the Hand and Flowers earlier this week, to celebrate a milestone birthday, which was organised (and paid for!!) by our family....How lucky are we?!!!

On check in, we were escorted to our room, where we were shown all the facilities.......the fridge with complimentary water and milk, the kettle, nespresso coffee machine, the lovely homemade treats, lardy cakes etc.etc..!! It was a nice touch, especially to make sure that we knew how things worked, and where everything was.

We stayed in the 'Angus' room....one of four rooms in a very old cottage, conveniently situated just yards from the hotel's car park. Beautifully converted, with stone floor, oak beams, and being on the ground floor, it had it's own private courtyard terrace, with sun loungers and a hot tub! It was quirky..... the bathroom door needed some attention, and the noise insulation in such an old building, understandably was not brilliant from the room above.!! But it had character, and we loved it. The magnificent four poster bed, built into an alcove, could have done with a ladder for us to climb up into it (!!!), but seriously, it was very comfortable!!

Two of our sons arrived after check-in, and we all went for a lovely walk down to the river, and around the town, ending up at 'The Coach', (the hotel's 'sister' pub), where
we enjoyed a complimentary coffee and cake.....delicious!!...then back to our room for pre-dinner drinks in the courtyard!!

The highlight of the day was our evening meal.......joined by 4 family members for a fantastic feast!! The service was so friendly, and the food was simply amazing!!

The night was rounded off with a moonlight session in the hot tub!!...followed by hot malted milk and cookies, which had miraculously appeared in a hamper, when we got back from our meal!!....what a wonderful day!

When we awoke the following morning to find that there had been a 'soot fall' from the unused feature fireplace chimney, we were concerned about possible damage to the rug. We made a 7am call to reception, and within 5 minutes, 2 friendly faces arrived to clear it up......very impressive!!

We had a wonderful breakfast, then off on our journey home, with yet another bag of goodies to take with us.

One of the greatest assets that this hotel has, (apart from all those mentioned above!) is a fantastic team (and there are many of them!) of smiling and really helpful, friendly staff.

So thank you, Tom, (sorry we didn't get to meet you!) for a such a great, memorable experience...........you have a wonderful establishment, and a superb crew........you should be very proud of them!

One of the best meals we’ve had in a long while. This old pub was atmospheric with low ceilings and exposed beams. The food and service were both brilliant, particularly the molasses marinated chateaubriande and chocolate and ale cake. While a bit more expensive it is far better than any other gastropub I’ve been to in the UK and I’ve tried a few.

We were overwhelmed by the exceptional service and food on 24th April. The accommodation was wonderful along with the treats that were left for us in the room. The next morning we were still on a high but unfortunately we were very underwhelmed by the breakfast. The service was very different no smiling faces. We felt we were being rushed and I was actually asked if I had finished while I was sill eating! A mug of either tea or coffee was our morning drink. Very disappointed to an otherwise great experience.

I booked to stay at The Hand and Flowers for my partner’s 60th Birthday. From the first contact of making the booking the communications with the staff was excellent.

We stayed in The Angus Room in Flower Cottage, it was such a lovely room. The most comfortable bed we have ever slept on! We used the hot tub - great touch!

In the afternoon we walked around Marlow, had lunch at The Coach which was superb! Then back to The Coach for tea and cake!

Our evening meal was just a wonderful culinary experience. All of the staff were polite, helpful and knowledgable.

We were also fortunate to meet Tom Kerridge as we arrived - he was so lovely and took the time to have his photograph taken with my partner.

The following day we had a delightful breakfast - haddock and poached egg. We also visited The Butcher’s Tap (pub/butchers) - we purchased fantastic steaks, that we have just eaten for dinner!

Overall a wonderful experience!
