Our first hike in the Phoenix area. Really nice area. Parking lot was nearly full at 11am. and the main trail leading out behind the visitor center/restroom area was busy. Most folks doing a good job masking when needed and/or giving wide berth when passing.
The Brown's Mtn Loop was popular with hikers and bikers. Sandy and packed dirt, quite wide.
The spur to the top was not too busy but still had a fair number of folks, and, surprisingly, half a dozen walking their mountain bikes up. Why? I didn't ask. Didn't see anyone bike down. The peak requires a bit of high-stepping and scrambling in a couple very steep sections.
Less popular, thankfully, was the Cone Mtn loop. Much narrower path, too. Still some bikes we needed to make way for. No known path to the top of Cone.
Good restroom facilities.
First day on vacation- first Arizona hike! Great one to begin a trip. Some parts very easy with a few difficult areas. Very excited when i made it to the top!
Well marked and groomed trails for all levels. We hiked to the summit and then down and around the back side. It was lovely and will get even prettier when the cacti bloom.
I loved this trailhead because it has so many options available. From the super-easy 1/2 mile trail to ones that go for miles and miles around the park. I particularly liked climbing Brown Mountain.
This is THE place to hike, bike, boulder and picnic on the multiple trails. Great easy mountain biking for beginners, hiking is just beautiful, climb the boulders and enjoy a picnic in an incredibly scenic area. See wildlife such as deers, birds, and much more. This spot never gets old. Bathroom facilities with running water (believe me, some places don't have this) are super nice as well. Plenty of parking too. This hiking spot is a must see in the Phoenix area.
Nice trail with interesting views. A shortcoming was undesirable traffic, namely, many bicycles and a number of horses.
