What is there to say about this place other than it is pretty wonderful. Set atop a hill/mountain, this hotel really stands out from others in Ushuaia. Part minimalist, part futurisitic - the common areas and rooms are elegant and nicely appointed. We had a room with a view of the bay - which is worth it and the better option. The rooms are a nice size with hard wood floors and have a lot of modern luxuries - electronic shades, thermostat, etc. The bathroom has two sinks and a soaking tub. The service at the hotel is outstanding. The grounds are gorgeous and there are a few 30-60 min walks or hikes around the grounds with wonderful views of the mountains, bay or city. The spa and indoor pool are serence, clean and luxurious. I must admit the outdoor hot tub overlooking the Bay and mountains was a highlight. The food while very very solid was reasonably priced - but in my eyes not outstanding. If there was any knock on our stay was that there was not an abundance of very hot water - kinda hot maybe but not to the standards I would have expected. But even with that out stay was near perfect. The resort staff recommend and connect you to local tours seemlessly (National Park, Penguins, Glaciers.

Arrived after an 8 hour long flight. Reception was nice and the hotel is in a nice location (though there is only a dirt road leading to it). Happily jumped into the shower only to find out .. there is no hot water. Only a trickle of freezing water. No one bothered telling us upon arrival.
Really?!? No hot water? Never mind it’s a 5 star hotel. Never mind it’s considered one of the best. What’s important is that if they have an issue they should have immediately informed us. But a freezing shower is not what I expected after 8 hours of flights to reach this location.
Will be extremely upset if this issue is not resolved within an hour or two.

We arrived at the Arakur on a cold, misty afternoon. The beautiful views of the mountains, town and harbor below were partially obscured. Perhaps that is why the magnificent architecture of the hotel seemed even more welcoming. Constructed of many different kinds of wood, even the massive lobby felt warm and inviting. Our room was large and had every convenience at our fingertips. Ours offered a huge window overlooking the town and harbor with the Beagle channel in the distance. The king sized bed was very comfortable while the bathroom offered twin sinks and a separate toilet and shower. We did not lack hot water.
The restaurant, with yet again amazing views, was probably the best one we ate in on our trip. We indulged in king crab, their specialty, with a light Asian influenced citrus sauce, fresh lemon on the side. The black hake was prepared perfectly, medium rare, again with a delicate sauce on the side. We were so impressed that we decided to spend the next day at the hotel and eat lunch there as well.
Because we were not to board our Australis cruise until the following afternoon, the hotel allowed us a late check-out so we could stay and enjoy the pool, saunas and hot tubs. We spent the day swimming and relaxing in this magnificent setting, eating king crab yet again at lunch, and were very sad to leave that afternoon. We highly recommend the Arakur for a longer stay in order to appreciate not only their offerings, but those of the surrounding area and park.

Room tip: We enjoyed the town and water view but a mountain view room might be equally nice though different.

It is completely beyond my expectation and dream. The infinity pool is so beautiful and peaceful. It gives you different experience in the morning, afternoon, and night time. The view from the pool is amazing, snow mountain. The sound of the whale in the pool is so magical. It makes me feel completely in another world. The trekking experience is beyond words... you are the only on in the wood...so much privacy, the closeness with nature, it is very meditative and peaceful. The forest is huge that it makes me realise how tiny I am to the whole existence. This resort provides complimentary fruits in the gym. Unbelieavable. Complimentary chocolates are provided daily in the room too. The room is spacious and equipped with all the latest technology. The heater will turn on and off by itself, you just need to set your preferred room temperature. The set lunch is nice and worth it. Beautiful view from lobby too. Overall, you dont need to book any activity if you stay here. This resort takes very good care of you to the tiny details. If you decide to stay here, you must try all the treks (blue, yellow, red and purple) and the infinity pool is a must. The indoor and outdoor pool is connected. :)

The view from the hotel is breathtaking and the hotel itself is an architectural and interior design marvel. The view from the restaurant is beautiful. The food for breakfast and dinner was also very good. The hotel is about 20 minutes outside town but they do provide a shuttle into town. The checkout staff was a little impatient with our large group but it would not stop me from staying here again. Wonderful for a romantic getaway.
