Fantastic stay at summer wood guesthouse. Warm welcome from the staff on arrival with a detailed explanation of the facilities and room. We stayed in room 7 which was lovely, bright and spacious. Location was perfect, a little outside the centre but quiet and peaceful. It was a 15 minute safe walk to the Centre or a 5 minute cycle on the bikes available to borrow. Having Uber in stellenbosch was a great help in getting back after a meal/drinks (only R20/£1.20!!).

Swimming pool was lovely to relax by in the afternoon and was never busy. Breakfast was great, very fresh and made to order.

Would highly recommend!

We ended our 16 day trip to SA with 6 nights at Summerwood. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and at home. Room 3 is very large, as is the bed, loads of storage space, well equipped mini bar with fresh milk, kettle and coffee and tea.We overlooked the lovely , large gardens and 13m pool; always plenty of sunbeds, chairs, cushions to relax , especially at the end of the day when complimentary home made cake and hot drinks available for tea! Situated in an upmarket suburb, 15-20 min stroll to town; we drove to restaurants in the evening, parking not a problem. The staff were so helpful with restaurant bookings and advice. Breakfast cooked to order was excellent. To Zonya and your staff, a big thank you--we will be back!

We stayed two nights at the guesthouse. Very much enjoyed the pool and bicycle. We left too early for the breakfast on our last day so they packed us all sandwiches, fruit, and a beverage. That was very thoughtful and it was delicious. Comfortable and clean, in a lovely neighborhood as well.

Spent 4 really enjoyable nights here at the start of our trip to SA. Location is good within walking distance to centre. We had a great room, very spacious with large comfortable bed. Garden and pool area are a great place to relax. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Have seen comments about breakfast and that would be my only suggestion for improvement, the service on cooked food was really slow, two mornings we waited so long to give our order we decided not to bother. It was a shame because when we did have it it was very good. Wouldn’t put us off returning though and thanks for a lovely stay.

So, we stayed in Stellenbosch for 2 nights at the summerwood guesthouse, double room/ garden room.
I must admit, unfortunately, that I have been quite disappointed... especially because of all the good reviews on TripAdvisor. firstly, the welcome was not as warm hearted as we are used to from South Africa. It was a quick hello and just: your room isn’t ready yet. Gotta say that we wrote two emails in advance to let them know we play arrive earlier, just wanna drop off the luggage and then head to the Vine Hopper. Never got any reply... so we dropped of the luggage, for all information we actually had to ask. The other junior manager in the afternoon did explain the whole house etc to the new arrivals. Ours in the morning did not really. When we got back from the wine tour we got into our room. It has a good size and firstly looks like on the pictures. Later looking closely you see that there are quite a few things that need to be repaired. Shower door doesn’t close, glass shelves in the shower almost falling down. Hair and dust in the drawers that obviously weren’t cleaned.
Even after letting them know, nothing happened. The drawers were still dirty when we got back later that day.
The guesthouse itself looks like on the pictures. But don’t look to closely, then you’ll see it needs quite some renovating.
Now Service: well, not that much really. Mostly hiding behind the reception. You actually had to say hello loudly to get someone to the front desk.
Breakfast from 7:30-9:30, not all built up When you come downstairs at 8am. No coffee service during the day, you pay 15R for a coffee pad and make it yourself.
On our day of departure still just a quick excuse for all the negative points, nothing to comfort us etc. . Even forgot that we payed our room already and took another 15 min to check again.
So, we stayed in truly amazing guest houses with welcoming service before, making you feel like home. Unfortunately not the case here...
Never again, sorry.
