Sitting on the stoep at Pontac for sundowners is a great idea. Be sure to ask for a slice of lemon or lime in your gin and tonic and at times be prepared to get up and ask for service. Staff were friendly. A great dissappointment was that no dinner is served and although the Cattle Baron is on the doorstep your are not allowed to order and enjoy on Pontac's stoep, even the sweet treats could not be served as the coffee shop is also outsourced. Peacefulness and view make for a great relaxing place to have a drink.

Phoned Pontac Manor to inquire about availability for 3 double rooms for 3 nights. No small booking. After the a long wait before the phone was answered someone answered without greeting, just said HI, she implied twice that I was someone who I am not and then realized that I wanted to make a booking. Screaming as they walked looking for the receptionist. Will definitely not call again. Very disappointing.

It's perfectly located, the rooms and bathrooms are wonderfully big and the bed was very comfortable. We were sad to only be there for one night as we would have loved to have spent time in the garden or on the patio.

Very large room. Lovely, in an old colonial style. Some of it in need of an upgrade. Pleasant people. Woken very early by something running across the roof, which could only have been a baboon! (Better than being woken by other guests!) Breakfast decidedly average.

The hotel has a lot of atmosphere and history. Unfortunately that is where it ends. The hotel is in need of a serious revamp. I stayed in the "stables" part of the hotel and the mould smell in the room is unacceptable. Food was good and service was friendly. The main feature of a hotel is the quality of the rooms and unfortunately this was not great. The rooms look dated with paint pealing etc. The thin doors offers very little privacy. Would look for alternative accommodation in Paarl next time. Wifi was only working in some parts of the hotel. Free coffee and tea making facilities in the room. Would not rate it as a four star hotel.
