The service received from the staff was absolutely wonderful. Every query or request was addressed with speed and such friendliness. The food was beyond divine! The room and bathroom had a charming vintage feel, in keeping with the history of the guesthouse. It was delightful to sit in the back garden after a lovely breakfast and watch the guinea fowl and squirrels.

Room tip: If you don't do stairs well, be sure to get a room that is not on the top floor.

I recently stayed at Zomerlust, my second time. As a guesthouse, the owners know a thing or two about hospitality. Extremely welcoming, the room most spacious. The back garden is a tiny haven of peace. The chef went to endless trouble to accommodate my dietary requirements. A celiac's heaven, and that is rare in SA. Most appreciated.

I stayed at Zomerlust Guesthouse last week on business with a party of 6 international guests. We were so well looked after by all the staff at Zomerlust during the day while we had meetings/snacks/lunch. The chef went out of his way to accomodate the different dietary requirements. Thank you so much. The rooms are good and spacious. My only comment there would be that the plug points for kettle or hairdryer are a little awkward. Perhaps plug points near a desk or table would be useful?

I stayed one week over there for business and If I could, I'll choose another hotel next time.

Old room, bath..., bad matress, bad heater, bad breadfast... The sample is thr key of my room, almost broken where I needed two minutes to open it

Just it was ok the location in my case......

Dear riojanaporelmundo, I'm sorry to see that your experience at Zomerlust was not what you expected. While we try to highlight and celebrate our history (the property dates back to 1792), it is unacceptable that your experience did not live up to your expectations, and I apologize profusely for it, while sharing your review with our staff and management. Best regards, Jeroen

I stayed for 5 nights last week at the Zomerlust in Paarl. From the moment my biz partner and I checked in, until the last morning of our check-out, we were treated with great service. I must commend the staff at the tasty and ginormous breakfast buffet each morning for ensuring each guest was taken care of and well-fed. The staff took great care in seeming interested in the guests and making great conversation. Also, the food in the restaurant downstairs is delicious! I had a delicious butternut fritter/beet salad one afternoon - the best food I ate in Paarl! The restaurant chef and staff are excellent and very attentive and friendly!!!!

The larger double room in the newer back hall of the guesthouse was quite comfy and private - we were not in the main house. We had a shower and a tub, as well as flat screen TV, with sitting area and coffee/tea maker. There was a locking safe in the room to keep any valuables. It was quite a nice room with a view of the mountains to the East and the little courtyard to the South. The internet in the guesthouse on the other hand was a bit wonky, and from time to time, there was no service. This issue could use some improvement especially given the number of business travelers staying in this guesthouse. However, there was always internet service at the small cafe/bakery next door.

All in all, the Zomerlust is an excellent place to stay in Paarl, and I hope to return on my next business trip!

Room tip: Ask for double room 10!
