45 minutes from cape town airport, in the midst of the wine estates , along a lane throug fruit trees we arrived at the leeuwenhof. It is a complex with in the middle a flowered garden with some maybe century old tropical trees . The rooms are in spacious and have a pleasant comfortable somewhat colonial style with terrace in front. Breakfast and diner are served in the half open dining room besides a swimingpool. Very relaxing and cosy atmosphere. very good chef. Half a hour drive took us to Stellenbosch and to the northeast to Bain pass. Beautiful scenery.

Dear Hans,

Thank you for your positive review.

We take great pride in making all our guests feel welcome.

The Leeuwenhof dates back to 1714 and that gives the great atmosphere.
We are glad you liked the kitchen and dinner around the big pool and we make sure we have the right ingredients and best wines.

Thank you again for your kind words and we will, as always, let our team know.

Kind regards,

Daan van leeuwen Boomkamp

A quaint guesthouse with self-catering cottages that are clean and spacious. Check-in and check-out was easy and the hosts at reception and at the bar were very warm and friendly. The pool area was comfortable and very inviting for a day of relaxation. The dinner was the highlight: a three-course meal that was available to guests at an additional cost. There was only one option for the main dish (changes daily), but it was done superbly. Breakfast was also excellent, and included in the room rate. If you're a couple or small family looking to get away and relax, this is the place and is incredible value for money.

Thank you for your very enthousiastic review and we are glad we were able to serve you well.

We are glad you liked our dinner option. We only cater for our in-house guests and that is why we do not have many options...but the ones we offer should be perfect.

Thank you for your comments and we look forward having you again.

Kind regards,

The welcome at De Leeuwenhof was very warm and made us feel at home immediately. Nice shady terrace in front of the room, clean pool, good drinks at the bar by the pool and nice dinner and breakfast. The owners personally take the time to chat with the guests, give valuable advice for the next round of Winetasting and Sightseeing. What more could you ask for.

We stayed in very different accommodations during our trip, tented camps, lodges, hotels, holiday homes but the De Leeuwenhof Estate is a very unique place which would not fit in any category. We were guests of a super friendly family who runs a guava farm. Not only that we got very helpful recommendations with regard to our day tour, Daan and his family also allowed an unique insight into the live in South Africa. The room was very comfortable and the setting is lovely. The breakfast was very good with home-baked bread, very delicious! The service is outstanding! Even the car was washed since it looked quite dirty from the days before!

Thank you very much for your very positive review.

We are happy, we could make you share our passion for South Africa.

De Leeuwenhof is a historic setting dating back to 1714 and the farm is still a very productive fruit farm. The atmosphere we try to create is one of sharing and for that we do 2-3 times a week a farm-tour whereby we tell guests the history of the place. This offers great in-sight of how it worked and works nowadays.

Besides farming, we offer the guesthouse facilities and the combination actually makes it an unique experience.

Again we thank you for your kind words and we look forward in having you again.

regards,

The venue felt like it catered for the foreign market and not much concern for local travelers.
The pricing of the meals and mini bars was a reflection of this, although the dinner on one night was good, still way over priced.
The staff was very looud, and daily we would hear them speak amongst each about operational issues.
Venue has potential to be great but not sure if I would be back or recommend locally.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your response.

We take your issues with great interest and you are quite right that 90% of our clientele comes from overseas in the summer period. We are regarded as a holiday destination and we do our best to be the best ambassadors possible for South Africa.

The tast and demands from overseas visitors is sometimes quite different to local visitors and that creates big challenges.
In our restaurant we try to spoil the overseas guests with the fine tastes, which we fortunately have to offer in S-Africa regarding the fresh products strait from the land and fine rare meats.
That this comes with a some-what different price-tags should not be wondered.

If you compare the average costs of living in the Western Cape and other parts of our country, this then also may answer the issue raised.

For overseas guests, we still offer an incredible value for money.

The overall service request, in-house exclusive restaurant, pool cocktailbar, multichannel LED Tv's, high speed and uncapped internet, washing of vehicle and all kind of other services are included in the price and add to the overall well feeling of all our guests, hence the many positive reviews and remarks.
Overseas guests have a different demand structure and especially in the summer season it leads to the issues raised.

We have spoken to the Staff regarding the noise issues and we have taken measurements to not let this happen again and we apologize.

Should you want to visit the Winelands again and should you make another reservation, than a bottle of our excellent and exclusive wine will await you free of charge upon arrival.

Kind regards,

Daan van Leeuwen Boomkamp.
