This is a quaint hotel situated on the edge of the ocean. The fabulous cliff paths are on the doorstep offering easy access to the ocean and spectacular views. It is walking distance to fabulous restaurants but not in the centre of town so sleeping is peaceful. The hotel staff is helpful, friendly and efficient. Rooms are spacious with massive beds and we had an ocean view from the bed. Spotless clean and nicely decorated rooms. Only let down are numerous stairs but there is a lift available. We had a wonderful stay and will certainly return.

We stayed 3 nights in October, in Room 203 which was superb, large, well appointed and with a sea view, and yes we did see whales from our room. The decor was not exactly our taste, but we won't be taking it home with us so it didn't matter. The bed was comfy, 2 easy chairs to relax on and with a table and chairs on the balcony (largely unused by us as it was a bit nippy out there!).

It's right on the cliffs, just a short pleasant walk along the front to the town centre, with views of waves crashing on rocks, plenty of bird life, flowers and dassies to watch.

We ate dinner one night in the hotel, which was very good and reasonable. Breakfast is brilliant, plenty of choice for all tastes, service is enthusiastic.

Room Tip: Make sure of a sea view, our stay would have been far less interesting without that

Dear Guest

Your very positive comments are highly appreciated by owners and Management Team of Misty Waves Hotel. It is such an inspiring experience for them to get this positive acknowledgement for their total commitment to ensure our guests have an enjoyable stay with us.
The Hotel Management is very committed and will continuously still be present at breakfasts to ensure the best product in service and presentation to our guests as in the past.
The new Restaurant will grow into a lovely experience for visitors and guests alike.
Once again your review is highly appreciated!

We had one night here - good stopover point to Cape Town. The views are great - sadly no whales to see from our room that day! There is s nice walk along the cliffs. Decor is all replica French style - looks okay but really just for show. Four poster bed was very hard - when mentioned we did get a small credit which was appreciated - however we are the only people to have EVER mentioned it. The service in the restaurant was superb - our waiter a gem. Samantha the manager was also very helpful. Greeted with a complimentary bottle of champagne which was a nice touch. Misty waves is slightly pretentious - in many ways it would have been better to use the warmth and story of the old fishing cottage rather than trying to be European Riviera style.

We stayed here for one night on our way to Cape Town. The rooms were very big although they did feel a little tired. The breakfast was very good with lots of choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful and parking was easy. The homemade cupcakes on arrival were a nice touch.

Stayed here for 2 nights with friends recently on our tour of the Garden Route. The rooms were superb with views across the bay and an easy safe walk into town. However the evening meal was a disaster. It would appear that the restaurant has been franchised and was no where near to a standard that would acceptable to even a one star guest house. Given time it may change but, at present, I would advise eat elsewhere.

Honeyontravel, General Manager at Misty Waves Boutique Hotel Hermanus, responded to this reviewResponded 12 October 2015

Dear Guest
Thank you very much for the lovely review on our hotel especially referring to our rooms as superb. We really do appreciate it. We have done a lot of upgrades lately - all to the benefit of our guests. Such as the deluxe cinema just for the relaxation of our guests. We receive a lot of compliments for this as it also serves to introduce the guests to all the Hermanus area has to offer.
As for the new restaurant - we have recently outsourced this and it has been relocated to our Heritage cottage, one of the oldest fisherman's cottages in Hermanus, thus providing a unique experience. Unfortunately due to a delay on some of the equipment to be installed, we experienced a few early teething problems! However the Owner of our new restaurant already runs a very popular local restaurant, and we are confident that soon we will have the benefit of one of the best restaurants in town right on our premises - watch this space!
We would love to welcome you back.
Regards
General Manager
Samantha
