We were somewhat bemused by the robotic gestures and mimicked paraphrases we were met with on arrival by a staff member. This aside, the hotel has great views, the rooms are adequate though a desk and chair would have made it complete and the shower room could have done with some shelves for putting toiletries on. The wifi was so, so slow and for a hotel charging £165 pounds sterling per night, spending some money to upgrade to super-fast broadband would be minimal. They even have ipad's in the room for guests use so the anticipated demand has not been accounted for and why the wifi was not better I do not understand - perhaps the owner is just mean? Breakfast was adequate but not memorable. The staff are very pleasant though perhaps too keen to please and might lay off a little. Tea and coffee on demand and an honesty box are great and if the wifi was ungraded, I'd stay again. The location was fine and you easily walk into town or along the cliff walk where there were plenty of whales to be seen.

Room Tip: The higher you go the better the view and the price!

Hello - Thanks for letting us know about your stay and delighted to hear you would like to “stay again”. We are so sorry you did not mention your experience about the wi-fi. As you experienced, the team would have been more than happy to assist you. As the owner of One Marine Drive, I can assure you, we have invested heavily in the designing and development of the hotel. If you are returning to Hermanus, we would love for you to stay with us again.
Our best to you, The 1MD Team

Stayed over the Whale festival, with two friends. A special little hotel, Natasha the Manager, was a star as were all the staff.
Good breakfast, lovely room, nothing was to much trouble. Watched the Whales frolicking in the bay from our veranda.
Yes highly recommended.

This small boutique hotel is perfect for visiting Hermanus, overlooking the sea very close to the cliff path, and offers large stylish rooms with balconies. We had the Isabella room on the 2nd floor. We stayed 2 nights, one morning I saw whales breaching from bed - a quite extraordinary and amazing memory. Breakfast was great, there is a bar but no restaurant but there are many near by. We saw so many whales, some right under the cliffs to the point you couldn’t get closer in a boat. The cliff path is beautiful whether or not the whales are in town, there are some great bars and restaurants and some interesting antique and craft shops to wander around. We came to see the whales but enjoyed Hermanus as well. I will definitely stay at this hotel again when I next visit

We stayed at One Marine Drive as part of our honeymoon. It was exactly what we were looking for. Our visit started when Natasha met us as we pulled into our parking spot. She told us to leave all of our bags in the car, to come inside and relax a little bit, and to have a glass of wine. From there, she made dinner reservations for us and gave us great recommendations for what to do while we were in town before bringing our bags inside, showing us around, and helping us settle into our beautiful room. The hotel is just steps from Cliff Walk path and the views from each room are spectacular. Breakfast was delicious and we also enjoyed a delicious piece of homemade cake one night after dinner. I can't think of a better location in Hermanus and can't imagine a better staff. They even gave us a bottle of champagne to celebrate our honeymoon. What a wonderful experience!
