We stayed here during a recent trip to Cape Town. It is very well situated, just about 200m from The Waterfront. The restaurant is good as is the food, particularly the breakfasts. The staff are excellent, so polite and helpful,

Undoubtedly the best thing about this hotel is it's location, it is only a three minute walk to the V&A waterfront, where you can eat, drink, shop, pick up tourist buses and many boat trips including the Robben Island ferry leave from here.

The hotel itself is nice, well maintained, staff are all friendly and helpful. The hotel has a nautical theme but it's not overpowering. The room are large and modern, nice bathrooms, powerful showers and a lot of channels on the tv. The beds are also large and comfy. We didn't have any evening meals or room service in the hotel but looking at the menu the choices were good and the prices very reasonable. If you are from the UK like us you will find the prices for food and drinks unbelievably low compared to eating out in the UK. Wine and steaks (every one we had was delicious), are approx half the price you will pay in restaurants in Britain.

We had breakfast in the hotel every day, the choice was fantastic, from meats, cheeses, pastries etc to the hot buffet, omelettes and eggs are cooked to order. We never felt rushed, the food was always good and if you ask you can get expression/cappachino's made for you.

We found the hotel was quiet, even though it was busy it was never noisy. Due to the chronic water shortage in Cape Town the swimming pool is empty, which is not ideal but can't be helped.

We had a room on the second floor overlooking the back of the hotel, it was quiet but not a lot to see from our window. The room on the fifth and sixth floors at the back of the hotel would give you a long range view of the waterfront /harbour so it might be worth asking for one of these rooms if you want a view.

We had a standard room overlooking the access road at the side of the hotel. Great I thought as it did not overlook the busy road. Spent two nights in this room before asking to be moved. The room was above the staff entrance and I presume smoking area. The chapter from staff at all hours was unbearable. We were moved to a courtyard room but at 4am staff were setting up breakfast tables and moving chairs an chatting....

As for the hotel itself. Rooms are not 4 star standard. Our first room was tired. It had a double bed with a mattress that rolled us into the middle. Second room had a king size bed but was a smaller room. Go figure...
Breakfast was good. Staff friendly-especially the concierge staff.
Pool was closed because of the drought which was disappointing as that was one of the reasons for booking this hotel.
Location great for the V & A
