Kambaku River Lodge
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 7 January 2018

After staying at many lodges and camps in southern Africa, including lodges in the world-famous Sabi Sand reserve, we rate Kambaku River Lodge as one of our very best experiences. We are wildlife photographers so our primary goal is to photograph subjects so we can't wait to go into the parks each day. We stayed three nights at Kambaku and had no desire to leave the lodge to enter the Kruger Park! The food, service, views, rooms and gardens far exceeded our expectations. We even got to see and photograph 4 of the big-5 animals from our room or the viewing deck - rhino, elephant, buffalo and, on our last day, the elusive leopard. The birdlife is also amazing - we photographed raptors, kingfishers, cuckoos and many others, including the boss of the garden - the pin-tailed whydah! He entertained us each day - chasing rivals, courting females and dive-bombing any other bird that came to his bird-feeder. We highly recommend Kambaku River Lodge and suggest a minimum 3-night stay as just 1 or 2 nights is not enough time to experience everything Kambaku has to offer.

I don't have words to describe how wonderful is the place. Leanne and staff are great host, every single detail was thought to our confort and enjoy. The lodge are very comfortable, very clean, and the view amazing. We saw from there impalas, porks, crocodiles and a lot of hippos! The breakfast and dinner, ordered by demand, delicious. I can't say what could be better. I really hope come back someday.

The place, the view, the food, the room, the territory - everything is excellent!
The transportation from airport is very expensive, and probably should better be negotiated before visiting (the driver asked me: They told you the price?).
It seems that the transportation to Kruger NP adds a lot to the price of safaris. So if you want to visit it a lot and not on your car - it will probably be cheaper to stay in the park and buy the safari yourself, even if the accommodation there is more expensive.

Thank you so much for giving us a lovely review and we are really happy that you loved your stay with us. I do believe that we are competively priced with regard to airport transportation, unfortunately the price can be a little on the high side when traveling as a single person such as yourself, as most companies have a minimum charge for 2 guests and the same relates to Safaris. Their is also a toll cost that needs to be paid Each way for airport transfers.

Warm regards Leanne
