What an awesome reception from the staff. The rooms are magnificent.
They Received us with open arms. The luggage was whisked away...

And time to chill before dinner...

High tea was served on the porch.. Pineapple cake with cream.
At dawn we get driven to the infamous Hluhluwe game park for a open Jeep safari hopefully finding one of the big 5 at the crack of dawn.

Lovely quiet place, the treetops need some renovation to the bathrooms there was a hole in the wood from the toilet. Food was ok, my children enjoyed it, lots of meat, unfortunate if you are vegan.

The game drives was definitely not worth it, with the driver Alan. They charge +- 2500. If you go on your own which it is not far from the gate, costs less than 300 a family. They don't even give you anything to drink on the game drives. Must take your own refreshments and they offered some deep fried samosas, spring rolls.

We saw most of the animals on our own, the game driver was only chasing the lions as they are tagged and everyone knows where they are in the hluhluwe game park. He seem always in a bad mood and my children asked him questions he just ignored them.

We would go back, but would never do the game drives. When you check out, to check your bill, as they overcharged us and was delayed by 30 minutes, due to no management there. So left on a terrible note.

Friendly and welcoming is the two words that describe the staff at Ubizane. From the security at the gate to housekeeping. We stayed at the Safari Lodge rondavels and what was a nice touch is that you have a lovely porter who helps you take your luggage to your rondavel.

Firstly the rooms are amazing! Very unassuming from the outside. Inside is a comfy bed with crisp linen and a mosquito net which makes the bed look like a "princess bed". The room has a walk in cupboard, shower and a small kitchen with essentials and a table and chair on your balcony. What was really fantastic was the evening turndown which was a sweet and a lovely story for you to read - each night a different African story. So unique, such a nice touch!

The property has a nice pool, kids play area, an amazing boma, Tv room/lounge and of course game on your door step. The boma has braai facilities and a bonfire.

Breakfast is at the main building (Tree lodge) which is a nice walk from the rondavel. It's a nice buffet overlooking the crocodile enclosure.

Overall great stay! Will be back soon.

We stayed at the Safari Lodge at Ubizane. The staff are especially friendly and accommodating. The rooms cater for 4 people, 2 adults and 2 children. you can watch the various buck, Giraffe and Zebra from your room. It is very relaxing. We went with a group of 28 people, and the boma was fantastic. It served as a communal meeting place where we could share meals and sit around the fire. This reserve, while it has its own animals, is also very close to the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve. There is the Cheetah rehabilitation center near by and you can also take a drive to St. Lucia (Cape Vidal). A lovely venue, central to many activities. Would go back!
