Nature setting, relaxed helpful environment, good medical health spa
We went on long nature walk in the nature grounds of Hoogland, swam in the heated pool, and outdoor pool, had relaxing massages, and enjoyed the healthy fresh food well prepared.
We came back relaxed having been away from city life in nature.

Please change the colours, the walls are very dull, the painting could do with changing, the tiles in the area towards the cold pool need to be changed, they are slippery with age. The carpets in the walkways could also be changed for brighter colours. The sofas also.

Anette K, Owner at Hoogland Health Hydro, responded to this reviewResponded 11 February 2018

Dear Nokuzolam2018.

I have been playing various responses in my mind since reading your review. I really don't really understand why you would give such a terrible review based purely on the colour? Considering the unparalleled services and the incredible family of staff we have, I think this is a little unfair.

Colours are often chosen for the effect that they have on the human psyche. Red and yellow, or instance, are eye catching colours, but after a while, they become irritating and people want to move away. These two colours have also been shown to increase appetite, so are often used in restaurants that want to attract people, but have a fast turn-around time, such as fast food restaurants.

Browns and greens bring a naturalness and comfort into a space, and typically, areas with more earthy colours are spaces where people can spend extended periods of time. Many of our guests spend 2-3 weeks at Hoogland, and it is imperative that they stay as comfortable and relaxed as possible throughout this time. Soft, earthy colours help in this way.

This is also why we invite nature in through the huge sliding windows and glass walls throughout the building. These overlook the spectacular hills and nature enveloping the sprawling buildings of Hoogland. Spending time in nature, and in fact just looking at natural settings, have a deeply calming effect on people and the benefit of this on an emotional level can last for many days, weeks even.

Thank you for your note on the tiles towards the pool. These are highly prized stone tiles, but they do need to get an anti-slip treatment from time to time. I will re-look at the scheduling of these treatments and see if it needs to be done more regularly.

Hoogland is not far from JHB and easy to get to. The location and surrounds are lovely but Hoogland is old and the building, bedrooms, bathrooms, dining hall and spa facilities have a 70's feel. The food is good. Expect an old-fashioned experience.

I have nothing to add. Its a lovely environment set amongst the hills with lovely views. The walks are great. The walks are the highlight of the stay.
Loved the fruit bar.
I will be back in March.
I don't have anything to add,. Let me go now!

I enjoyed my stay at Hoogland very much. The quality of individual attention that the staff gives to the guests is something to be noted.
The friendliness of the staff overall is exceptional.
I enjoyed the food also a lot.
The tranquil surroundings also make it a most enjoyable stay .
I already recommended Hoogland to numerous friends and patients of mine in Windhoek.
