Took this tour today and was so surprised by how amazing it was! They think of everything. You learn history, marine biology, and local information. They have delicious food and snacks as well as the glacierita! The best drink! The closed boat is warm and cozy and easy to maneuver to see all of the whales and wildlife. The lodge is beautiful and the staff is kind, knowledgeable, and wonderful. This is a definite top recommendation for a wonderful day. We went in rainy weather and still had a great time.

We sailed with Allen Marine Tours as part of the Mendenhall Glacier & Whale Watch Tour that we booked as an excursion on our Celebrity cruise.
We were driven to the dock at Auke Bay and boarded the boat which had a large deck space on top and indoor seating with plenty of window views. There was a snack bar, and the crew provided us with free coffee, cocoa, and donut holes. Binoculars were available on the seats inside.
During our tour, our naturalist guide was Keegan, who was very informative and helped us spot four humpback whales, harbor seals, sea lions, and bald eagles.
We were out on the water for three hours on a beautiful sunny day in August. Be sure to dress in layers, as it gets very chilly out on the water when the boat gets going.

We did the "Best of Juneau" tour through our Princess Cruise, which included whale watching and a salmon bake at Orca Point Lodge. When we boarded our boat, I jokingly told our naturalist, Marina, that I wanted to see a fluke and some bubble net feeding. She laughed, and I thought it was because these were tall asks, but maybe she already knew what was in store and just wanted it to be a surprise. First we saw a mother and baby orca, which was exciting enough, but then the captain said he wanted to move on to some interesting behavior reported further out. OMG.When we arrived we were treated to the most amazing display of bubble net feeding by a pod of about 6 or 7 humpbacks. We sat and watched for nearly 45 minutes as they came up again and again, sometimes not 20 yards from the boat. It was just the most incredible experience. Marina was very informative and friendly, even helping my daughter skip rocks at the beach at the lovely Orca Point Lodge where we had our salmon bake. What a memorable trip, both for the adults and the 4 children in our party, ages 5-11.

We were on the American Eagle boat. Justin was our wildlife naturalist & narrator. He was very knowledgeable about whales & respectful of getting us around to see a variety of wildlife. Initially we saw 2 orcas which was a thrill, but then Justin received a message about some interesting whale activity that isn't always easy to find, so we headed toward it. We were able to see the bubble net feeding of humpbacks! The boat stopped so we could venture onto the front & try to see/capture them in action. Toward the end of our cruise, we saw some seals, but the bubble net feeding was fascinating and definitely a highlight of our Alaska trip.

We took an evening cruise with Allen Marine that was on offer with our Regent Seven Seas cruise and whilst we had cold wet weather it was a pleasant night and we did manage a few glimpses of a couple of whales. We have been on a couple of tours with these people now and they do offer a professional and enjoyable tour. The buffet dinner was bountiful and if the weather had been kinder it would have meant more time on deck and probably more sightings.
