Upgrade to junior suite was worthwhile. Terrace, garden and volcano view added to experience. The pool and bar were very pleasant areas to relax. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food on one evening was average (Saturday) and on other very good (Monday). Was it chef’s night off?

Room tip: Coffee in room excellent

Lovely hotel in a quiet location surrounded by lovely gardens, pool but an awful smell whilst we were staying. Many rooms back onto what looks like a sewage system and the smell was awful for a couple of days whilst we stayed. Rooms all a good size, clean with a good bathroom and shower facility. Pation outside was lovely with private garden where we could sit and watch and listen to the birds and monkeys. Pool area was tropical and lovely with a great bar and food available. Waiter was great and his service was 1st class. Lovely restaurant with a good choice, breakfast was good with great choices. fresh fruit was delicious - dining room with a view of a Costa Rican birdtable with many colourful birds feeding off the fruit placed on it for them. Nothing to do at night here as it was too far to walk to the town so felt a little restricted.

Thank you very much for your nice comments about our property, we make daily efforts to improve our service, for this reason that we have been maintaining our water treatment system, which could have generated the bad smell you are talking about, we apologize since this is not common to happen, but as I said before, it is part of the maintenance that we must do. We are here to serve you, it is an honor to serve you.
Best regards

We were assigned a room in 200 block. Approaching the stairway, we noticed the smell of a septic system. Turns out its the hotels at the rear of the buildings. We were relocated to the 300 block. The shuttle service is hit & miss, $5.00 per trip. Don't depend on it! Taxi pick up is very expensive. Shop on-line for competitive pricing for excursions & shuttles. Don't rely on the hotel to be competitive. The dining room is nice. Good breakfast! Dinner entries are quite small portions. Salads are excellent. The grounds & pool area are very tropical. However I walked the short trail offered to guests on the property. It was pleasant until I came upon the Grey Water Pond from the septic system that was leaching into the stream nearby.

Room tip: Avoid rooms in the 100 & 200 block to avoid the septic odor. Second floor room to avoid footsteps & water running overhead.

Loved our stay at this quaint 2-story hotel with views of the Arenol volcano. Front desk esp Kermes is so kind and helpful. Yummy CR breakfasts, working A/C, cute rooms, nice pool & jacuzzis, walking distance into LaForuna town for dinners. Easy to get to excursions. Not super fancy but well appointed and perfect for our needs... Fantastic!

Room tip: Loved our 2F with balcony, affords some privacy & great view of volcano

Very clean, beautiful landscaping, very quiet and private, no issues with shower, AC, breakfast. If you are looking for super luxury resort this is not the place, but Casa Luna is a solid choice to explore all the attractions in this area. Value for money is exceptional. Very easy to get an uber from this hotel.
