Nice facilities with really big accommodating rooms. Even though I traveled solo my room was big enough for at least four other people. Bathroom high. Lighting was not the best but what can I expect it’s the rainforest. Bug bug bugs if you are scared of bugs you need to make sure you sleep under the mosquito net and keep your lights off because they are everywhere.

Room tip: Bugs! They are everywhere. Bring towel set.

We stayed at this hotel between March 12,13, & 14. We reserved an upgraded room 6 months in advance of our stay. Our room was large but had only a bed, small wicker loveseat and TV on a very high desk with no chair. There was no closet to store clothes', no place to put suitcases, no table/desk for my laptop, no chairs to sit on. The bathroom had no place to put toiletries. I complained to the staff about this and they did deliver a dining table, two chairs, a table for a suitcase, and some hangers for clothes.

The hot tub had no water and was surrounded by yellow tape. There was no water in two of the three hot springs. The one with water was so discolored I would not use it.

The hotel is very poorly run. They have a lot of large school tours that stay there. So noisy at breakfast time. Such a lovely location and nice grounds but they need better management.

The hotel is over priced for the quality provided. A very disappointing experience hotel experience.

Room tip: Do not stay at this hotel

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. While rustic, it was clean and cozy. The grounds were great and well kept, pool was awesome and the hot springs were wonderful. GREAT locations, 7 min to downtown La fortuna in an Uber or they do have on site shuttle.
We did bogarin trial and saw the sloths, we did a combo day of going to the waterfall, hiking arenal volcano and finished with a very nice public hot spring Another day we went white water rafting, zip lining and had lunch. This was all set up by Peggy (the owner) and her office associates. They are so friendly and welcoming. The server at breakfast and also dinner was so wonderful. This resort and downtown is the best food we have ever had in our lives. This trip is highly recommended!
Oh, and the view on site of the Volcano is spectacular.

I stayed here with my family and we had a blast! The food was delicious, the room service was so helpful, and especially Mrs. Peggy. She was so welcoming to us when we first got there and made us feel very special. And the view.....Chef's Kiss! I had so much fun in the hot springs, and one day, we actually saw the full volcano. I really do recommend this place to and kind of trip- family, friends, and buisness. I loved it.

I wanted to like this hotel, but it didn't meet the expectations.
This hotel is owned by a Chinese family and it shows.
Toiletries are all from China, not just made in China but from China with all Chinese letters on them. You can imagine how cheap it has to be to transport it all the way from overseas. I had to get my own shower gel(and I used my shampoo), because the 2 in one shampoo and shower gel was awful. If you are going to this hotel, I recommend bringing your own toiletries.

The mattress on the bed was extremely uncomfortable. It is some kind of cheap spring mattress. When 2 people sleep on one bed, the mattress just collapses in the middle and you both crash on each other at the center of it. I was waking up making time during the night because I was all the way at the bottom of this mattress and had to climb back up to my side to get more room.
I also wish the outlets were positioned on either side of the bed or at least on one of the sides. The only outlet near the bed was behind the headboard, right in the middle of the bed.

I was very excited to have a hotspring in a hotel. The hotspring pool wasn't cleaned. I don't mean the color of the water, I understand that different elements in the water give it a dark color. I mean the layer of oils that you can see on the surface of the water. We stayed in this hotel for 4 days and never saw it cleaned. I think they just add water to keep it warm, but don't change it completely, at least not often enough. Its not like a regular swimming pool, there are no filters there (as you can clearly see in the hotspring pool that sits empty).

Breakfast was also underwhelming. Arenal volcano area has lots of activities that start early in the morning. Normally, most hotels would start breakfast early in this situation. For example, when we stayed in Manuel Antonio, breakfast was served starting from 6:30 in the morning. In this hotel breakfast time starts at 7:30. We were going on an early hike and needed to have breakfast as early as possible. We came at 7:20, and although some food and drinks were already out, they didnt let us come and we had to wait.
I will note, that it wast only us. There were at least 6 more people waiting with us and everyone looked confused.
They only had fried eggs as a breakfast option. Since I dont like this style, I was left with rice, toasts and plantains. One day I tried to make an oatmeal, but the carafe that said “Hot Milk” only had cold milk inside.

Bottom line: this hotel is overpriced for what it offers. It is not a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. If I go to this area in the future, I would look for a better option.
