Very good hotel. Excellent location. Staff were amazing. Almost magical how they were always on hand to help. Our room wasn't ready so they stored the luggage. When we actually checked in, within 2 minutes of getting to the room the luggage arrived.
One criticism- the showers were not the best- the grout was quite mouldy.
This hotel is right at Yu Garden, the historical site of Shanghai. The surrounding is mostly rebuilt though; there is little original. The place is also within a walking distance to Wai Tan, the popular river bank that is opposite to the TV tower ("Pearl of the East"). There is a subway station within a 2-minute walk to the hotel - You need to change a train if you are arriving from Pudong international airport - There is a club lounge for eligible members, where you get almost a full dinner during happy hours.
This is my second time at the hotel. Everything seemed to work well. However, I saw room charges at checking out. I told them we did not use any commodities in the room. They removed it and I left the hotel with a receipt of zero balance. What is not acceptable is they put the mistaken charge back after I left the hotel! I did not know it until I checked my credit card account.
We do not drink alcohol and we do not normally drink pops and sugar beverage. In addition, we have the club lounge access to get these things for free. Why would we use them in the room? More importantly, why would we lie if we used anything from the in-room fridge? I consider that an insult to me, a Bonvoy elite member who uses the Marriott chain a lot.

The best thing about this hotel was its proximity to the metro so that we could get to the train station the next morning. Our room felt tired and dated. The bathroom was especially not up to the standards you would expect from a hotel that’s rated as a four or five star property. Our room also had a third bed which we had not requested, and it took up a large portion of the floor space.

Highly recommend. Good location, near Yu garden and lots of food options, bund and nanjing road, also has metro direct access to Shanghai zoo. I had to exchange to another room due to the strange smell, however, front desk was very efficient and professional. I enjoyed one week in Shanghai and will come back again!
The service and help here was wonderful. We stayed for 5 nights in the heart of Shanghai with everything almost only a 20 minute walk away. The location is wonderful, only 15 minutes away from the Bund. The rooftop bar has amazing views and I definitely recommend heading up here for a drink.
There is a metro station right across that gives you access to line 10 and 14 which gets you to most attractions! Its incredibly convenient.
The room service, the friendliness of the staff at the entrance (Steven and Alan) was amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough for Shanghai! You cannot go wrong. They accommodated for 3 people in 1 room by adding a trundle bed and there was ample space for us. Check in was easy and seamless.
