Owner description: Fantastic site to visit - unimaginable architechture, great theme show, diaorama and I max presentation. If any tourist, irresepctive of his religion or creed, has half a day to spare, this is a must see. It is one man's creation in five years totally with voluntary support. A monument which makes every indian proud!

Swaminarayan is the progenitor of lineage of Gurus for which the temple is dedicated.Being a sculptor myself I was astonished at the sheer magnitude and quantity of such beautifully carved sculptures.Every square foot of surface area has the entire lineage depicted either in a devotional posture or a posture of service. The detail is superb and I am one who is not easily impressed. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and shared with me the story of how an entire village who has been carving stone for many generations was brought back to life in service to this temple.Only a handful of the old masters were still working and this project initiated a massive educational ,master student apprenticeship program which resulted in this modern day Masterpiece. Over two hundred ornately carved pillars, 20,000 figures and a stunning plinth of 148 life size elephants. A must see if in the Delhi Area

This 20th Century Religious Temple is wonderfully ornate, true to ancient carvings, and worth the visit if you are only visiting New Delhi. For those of us history buffs, this temple has all new carvings, (many look mass produced) which appear throughout the country in their 2nd - 18th Century originals. There is a beautiful fountain, the temple has information in English, the areas are clearly marked and following the path from Entrance though the facility is easy. There is no entrance fee however, you will NOT/NOT be allowed to take in any backpacks, bags, or even cell-phone - NO PHOTOS INSIDE. You will be moved through the lockers room queue (which is really long) to place all/all items (pretty much all except a small wallet for men and women) in a locker. You then move to another line for the security check - if you have any contraband here they will send you back. Then you are free to move through the facility. There are some shady areas, many open sunny areas and it can be very hot. They have food and drink facilities inside. Again, this is a wonderful and beautiful temple, we preferred the ancient ones more. We did not visit any of the paid exhibits (i.e. the water show or movies) as they were either out of our time frame or we were uninterested in paying for the exhibit.
