wat phra that lampang luang is culture, tradition, and history of buddhism in one. the amazing architecture and the design of the temple and its surroundings brings the philosophy of buddhism alive. one can feel the spirit of ancient times and history.

a museum next to the wonderful main ordination hall with antique memorabilia gives you some insight into the lifestyle of centuries way back of our time.

when ever you plan to visit northern thailand then wat phra that lampang luang is a must see.

We are lucky being in Thailand a bit off season. Whenever we come to a sight, there is no crowd, but only a small amount of tourists. This is a very nice temple, with some great artwork. Wat Phra That is in great shape, but around the big pagoda the buildings are a bit “tired” and could need a caring hand. Absolutely worth a visit if you are in the region.

It is very ancient and beautiful. The shadow pagoda is awesome but unfortunately they do not allow ladies to access it. However, the remaining area is accessible and open.

There is museum inside to visit. Outside of the temple, there is a carrier to ride which it is a signature of Lampang Province.

Wat Phra That Lampang Luang is about two and a half hours to travel by car from Chiang Mai. It was very clouded during the weekend. Phra Maha Jedi or pagoda is magnificent. It will take around two hours to visit the temple. It is highly recommended to visitors from Chiang Mai, Lampang and all over the world.

Set about 20 minutes ride from Lampang, only takes a around 30 minutes to look around. Restaurants and souvenir shops across the road, horse and cart ride available. That's about it. A couple of hours is all you need.
