Stayed in Bungalow B4 with family.
Pros
1. Living in the midst of nature.
2. Clean rooms and toilets.
3. Spacious rooms.
4. Picturesque surrounding if you are forest lover.

Cons
1. No network and wifi available. Only bsnl network works intermittently.
2. Food available is basic.
3. Hilly terrain to walk difficult for elderly people.
4. No wheelchair facility.
5. Housekeeping is basic.
6. Kitchen in house and things like bonfire are all on extra charges. Not available as add on.

Experience
1. Buffet was not available for dinner and bfast on the first night. The hotel management pushed for taking a la carte meals for being better. Food was basic and they were on support from their sister concern Elixir for urgent supplies.
2. On the next night for dinner and consequent bfast they organised buffet which were run out of supplies for example the bfast offered brownie cakes which were short in supply. Food was of quite ordinary cooking standards and not exciting.
3. The show is managed by two gentlemen. One Mr John who hardly smiles and another Mr Finer who smiles and promises total care and attention. The deliverables leave a certain gap in expectations. In fact we were better hosts for Mr Finer who gave the pleasure of his company to spend time in our room.
Expectations
1. Met by the surrounding locales.
2. Not fully met by the hospitality arrangements as stated above.
3. Can be upgraded to ensure value for money that was charged.

Choose bunglow if you are a nature lover. You won't regret. Be prepared for wilderness. Food is decent. Restaurant is also good ambience wise. Expect to walk a bit since the restaurant inhouse is little away from the rooms. Overall ambience is very nice. The estate contains multiple resorts and they share real-estate. Better to order dinner as room service. Also have a vehicle at your disposal if you are a rookie at living in wilderness or travelling with elderly/kids and have trouble going out in the dark. This is more of a place to relax in the lap of nature and not one to party in.

The property is 13km from Munnar bus stand. Be prepared to go through dwindling single road. Better to plan to reach the place before 0500 or 0600 pm as it gets too dark soon. The room was average with necessary things were there, but the room was smelly. Food was overpriced and room service is pretty expensive. A chicken curry costed Rs.375 for room service, the same is priced Rs.300/- if you go to the restaurant and eat. The restaurant is 200m on a downhill from where our cottage is located. I felt, they overcharged me on food and the restaurant staff never mentioned about exhorbitant room service fee.

Room tip: All the cottages are spread across a vast mountain land. Try to choose your cottage close to restaurant

I visited this place with my friends and my pet dog. The hospitality shown by John and Finer, the folks in charge of managing the place ... is worthy of mention. Thy were great hosts and they run this place with great care and attention.

Deep woods is an absolutely calm and serene resort tucked away in the midst of Letchmi tea estate, just 30 mins from Old Munnar Town. Upon arrival, we got bumped up (due a several hiccups we went through getting to the place, and missing our first night at this place) to a spacious bungalow with a brilliant view, a nice veranda, a home designed with great taste, balconies that opened up to green haven ... simply put - a heavenly abode.

The food was great ... we relished the varieties offered at breakfast buffet, you could tell the chef (from West Bengal, don’t recall his name) cooked with great care to appease his guests. All the staff at the restaurant were accommodating of our special requests when we asked them to prepare delicacies of our choice. They were “hosts” in their true sense.

We could take long walks into the estate ... wander off into the “deep woods” and lose our soul to nature (only beware of leeches ... my dog and a friend were treated to some leech therapy). We often sat under the cool shades of the kiosks/gazebos (quite a few of those .. here and there) and meditated or read a book, even just sat to listen to gazillion of birds chirping. Overall this was a great trip and definitely a place I would recommend for people to stay. PS: we couldn’t fathom our trip ending, so we extended our stay by a day. But alas! The reality of having to return and getting back to business got us packing up the next day.
