My family and I stayed in Tamra beach resort from 5.11 till 14.11. Out of the three hotels I've been to in Egypt it was the very best.
The overall appearance is very beautiful and cozy. Everything is clean and well-kept. The picturesque territory is covered in lush greenery – lots of flowers, palms and neatly trimmed bushes, at night it's illuminated by clay lanterns. There are 6 swimming pools scattered around the area, one of them with heated water.
The beach is very close by – 5 minutes maximum from any place of the hotel. The beach line is wide - enough place for all hotel guests, the staff there helps to install sun beds in any place you choose. One can enter the sea either by walking from the shore in special footwear or by descending from pontoon. The reef of the hotel is full of multicolored fishes and the sea is pristine clear, just beware of the current that can drag you right onto the sharp corals.
The rooms are very spacious and cleaned every day, equipped with AC and fridge. Everything was in working condition, the furniture is a bit old though. The instruction for safe both in English and Russian was incorrect, so we had to figure it out by ourselves.
The food was the best that I've ever had in Egypt – delicious, lots of variety, everyday something new to try, BBQ every evening. Wine and beer were also of high quality. All of the restaurant personnel was very helpful and polite, special thanks to the waiters TAREK and YASSER, who were always cheerful and friendly.
Hotel has two animation teams – one for Italian guests and an international team “A Class” for guests from other countries. International animation was monotonous and suited only for children, every day they offered exactly the same activities.
Italian team was much more professional and entertaining, pity they were interacting with Italian guests only. It would be much better if there was one animation team for everyone, so nobody would feel left out. Still best regards to Maurizio, Donatello for wonderful music, graceful Marco, and handsome Simone, who's not afraid of talking to Russians:) Hope to meet you all again next year and not only observe but join the fun!
Thanks to everyone at Tamra for the amazing vacation, if I go to Sharm el Sheikh, I'll definitely stay here again.

We booked this hotel as part of a late deal, this being our first visit to Egypt we wanted an affordable, well rated, beach front hotel that wouldn't be too big and impersonal, but would be an ideal place to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. This fitted the bill exactly. Yes the slope between the reception area down to the dining room, main pool area and entertainment area is quite steep and throughout the pathways are crazy paving, but the layout of the accommodation is such that Each section virtually has its own separate pool area. The only thing we were disappointed in was the fact that we didn't get a sea view from our room. The way this is described it seems to indicate that from virtually every room and each rooms bathtub, that you'll get an amazing sea view. That wasn't the case for us, nor for many others that we could see - perhaps before the gardens and palm trees had matured you could have got glimpses, but not now unless you're in the blocks nearest the beach. The food was varied, yes a lot of Italian food on offer, but also a wide variety to suit most tastes. Lunch by far had the best selections, though the evenings they had barbecues were also great! No bad tummies at all! It was a bit of a pain having to leave either the beach or pool area to go to the dining room for lunch, but if you were to rely on the food at the bars you have pretty slim pickings. We don't drink much alcohol, just as well as the all inclusive selections are watery and few. Having said that the soft drinks are syrupy sweet, so by and large we ended up drinking water, tea and coffee. The rooms themselves are lovely and we were grateful to have air con and a fridge in the room. We took a travel kettle which we were glad we did as otherwise the only thing on offer in the room is the bottled water that is replenished each day. The rooms, in fact the whole complex is kept spotlessly clean. The staff work tirelessly to keep these great standards and were always smiling, polite and so helpful. We enjoyed returning to a clean and tidy room at the end of an afternoon to find wonderful towel sculptures! Clearly English is not a language they are used to speaking, but it's certainly better than my Arabic, and mostly we were able to make ourselves understood. The main clientele does appear to be Italian, though some Russians also, and English in the minority - not a problem to us but might be if you're looking for English entertainment or food. We hired a Mifi unit which gave more reliable internet than the hotels own (which you have to pay to use anyway and heard people complaint it was slow and a weak signal). We loved trying the different pool locations and our favourite was the one above the beach, lovely and quiet, with a beautiful view, and also just a 5 minute wander down to the pontoon from where you get into crystal clear deep blue waters to marvel at the stunning fish and corals - just amazing. We went on 2 boat trips to do some snorkelling, but by far the biggest fish we saw were those off the hotels pontoon. The drop off there is 25m deep (or so we were told). We found it safer to snorkel in the sea in the afternoon as often in the morning the off shore breeze was strong making the sea quite choppy. But they have a lifeguard on duty and use the familiar flag system to show when it's safe to swim. Sadly on our last day the sea seemed full of rubbish, bits of plastic bags etc. whilst we picked out of the sea what we could, there was nowhere to put it that didn't result in it being blown back into the sea. It was so sad seeing it impacting the corals and sea life yet seemingly the locals not being bothered? The hotel is in a quiet area, a few shops within walking distance but I'd suggest a taxi ride to anywhere with more variety such as Soho square.

Just finishing our holiday at Tamra Beach Resort in Sharm. Been a little bit disrupted with all the trouble following the Russian plane that came down in November.
The hotel and facilities are good and I would like to say a big thank you to Ben and Alex from the animation team for all their hard work.
I feel sorry for Sharm as a resort as obviously all the trouble will destroy local businesses and hotels. Myself and my wife WILL return to Sharm as the sun always shines and the local people do treat you so well.
Sharm is the perfect getaway for an October or November break, we will look at another hotel as we did last year as we do like to try different places.
DON'T GIVE UP ON SHARM!!!!!!!

Would agree with much of what has already been said about the Tamra Beach. Beautiful grounds, well maintained. Large rooms which could do with a refresh. Great access to the sea but a very small beach. Lovely pools with plenty of beds. We loved the food, especially the outdoor barbecue, and strangely got used to chilled red wine.

Now for the rest. The divide between Italian guests, and everyone else, is uncomfortable and isn't helped by having two separate animation teams. It's divisive and a very bad use of enthusiastic animators who deserve better. Special mention to Tayler, Ben and Marco for making our holiday memorable in oh so many ways! A bot more coordination would make everyone's lives more enjoyable.

And finally the staff who are, without exception, amazing. From reception, to the pool bar, to the restaurant staff and cleaners they were all incredible. We returned to the hotel from the airport when the flights were cancelled. They couldn't have been more helpful. We were put straight back in our old room and even had our cleaner try and give us the tip back! My thanks to everyone for making our extended stay as stress free as possible and our best wishes for the future..
