We stayed at the Pharos hotel for 2 nights / 3 days. The room was great with a decent sized balcony and very clean. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the pool and it was great to have the choice between singular sun loungers, larger soft sun beds or tables around the pool.
Pros:
- Room size
- Room cleanliness
- Pool area great with food brought directly to you. Everything that we had from the lunch menu was fresh / hot.
- Pool staff great and attentive
- Location of the hotel really handy for walking into Hvar old town (under 10 minutes). Would note that it is quite steep / uphill from the centre which will be tricky with cases/bags etc if you or any of your party have mobility difficulties.
Cons:
- Breakfast options weren't great, lacking flavour and quite lukewarm / did not taste particularly fresh
- Check in staff not the most helpful / knowledgeable. One of the male staff members was quite rude / aloof during our check in process which didn't set an immediately positive tone. When we asked to confirm that our room was a sea-view, as per our booking, another clerk also replied 'I don't know, probably, but if it isn't then it just means they're all booked so there won't be anything we can do'. We noticed quite a few other groups also spending time querying things which seemed to take a while.
- The entrance to our 'pavilion' (basically the block that your room is in) was not locked from the outside (it seemed that the key card swipe was broken), meaning essentially anyone could have got in.
- The music at the pool was extremely repetitive. It seemed to be a constant rotation of the same 10-15 songs all day, every day which got quite monotonous.
Also to note:
- There were quite a few stag / hen groups coming and going during our stay. While they were not outrageously loud, it's definitely something to bear in mind if you're looking for a quieter holiday.
