Great spot to enjoy downtown Manaus!

Review of Hotel Manaos
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 11 Jun 2018
Hotel Manaos had a friendly, accommodating staff and our room was clean, bed's comfortable and there was air conditioning. The location was fabulous...right across from the Opera House and an easy walk to the markets and the harbor. I'd go there again if we went through Manaus!

The rooms have been refurbished recently, but the rest is super old. The lobby is very dark. The hotel looks closed from the outside.
Staff is very nice, and breakfast of very good standard. Wifi is rather slow.
The location is very good, some rooms with views on the theater.
The major problem is the wafer thin windows. The intersection where the hotel is located is very busy, and it sounds like you are sleeping in the street.
Furthermore, nearly across the hotel, there is a bar playing very loud rock music on the street.
Finally, on Sat night, the streets are very busy and noisy with people who had too many caipirinhas.
There are rooms at the back (not on the streets), but I have not checked them out.
Having said that, the Go Inn hotel, 100m away, is much more modern and cleaner.
It costs the same price 140 R. Even if breakfast is of very low standard there.

Room tip: skip the rooms on the streets

For convenience to the Teatro Amazonas it can't be beat and the price is pretty good also. Rooms are clean, they have internet, and the breakfast is pretty tasty, but they don't have much else. There is no room service or lunch or dinner service.

Upon returning from the Amazon Jungle Tour I arranged to have a weeks worth of laundry for 3 done and it was ready as promised.

Hotel is located right next to the Teatro Amazonas on a major thoroughfare and the windows are only single panes. Traffic noise was very loud until 10 pm and resumed at 6 am.

I have been to the Hotel Manaos four times now. The Hotel is clean, the rooms are clean and well furnished. The beds are soft but firm, the television is big and has a few English speaking channels. The bathrooms are tiled with the shower more than adequately sized. There is a safe in each room for valuables and a closet to hang clothes. The air conditioning is very good with a remote.
It is situated right across the street to the world famous Amazon Opera House and many examples of colonial architecture. There are restaurants, grocery stores within very easy walking distance and it is a reasonable walk to the port/wharf area.
The staff is extremely attentive and very pleasant. Breakfast in the morning is a very pleasant surprise. There is coffee with hot milk, two or three different types of juices from fruits in the region, small breads, cheese and ham, fried yucca (delicious) papaya halves, bananas, yogurt, all kinds of little sandwiches, regional cheeses and a heated tray with eggs and cut up pieces of salsicha (which sure look like hot dogs to me) :) Anyway, the breakfast is ample and free and it is easy to load up and sustain yourself for quite a while.
By international standards it is not a five star hotel but it certainly makes a good argument for a four star in terms of service, safety, cleanliness, value for your money, and location location location.

Hotel Manaos is in an excellent location on the opposite corner to the famous Opera House, and in the main shopping street. The room was very good, clean, very good bathroom, and air conditioned. Good breakfast included.

The Manaos is a very traditional hotel close to the Teatro Amazonas. Localization couldn't be better. All basic needs are fulfilled, the beds are big, new and comfortable, installations are ok, AC powerful, the room floor is new ceramic. The place is definitely a bit rotten (like lots of others in town), but it's clean, the breakfast is rich, and after trying out lots of other hotels in town, I always come back to this one. Just the best package. It even has a certain decadent charm.

Room tip: Always ask for a front room, with view to the theater, best in the upper floors.

Thanks for the feedback...We just don't agree with the "rotten" part, we think that "old fashioned" is the best word...we will be waiting your back to our town...see you soon!
