Upon entering our room next to the tv was a note with coloring books and crayons for our boys along with a pet fish. how absolutely thoughtful! Per usual the room was very clean, upscale and just lovely. We are loyal to Kimpton, but each hotel we stay at has its own twist. Alexandria reminded us of old town. So there was a certain old town relaxation this place had. Bell hops very helpful as usual and staff was very helpful. We had an incident while waiting for silverware. They comped a portion of our bill since we didn't get the cutlery. We were more than happy about that. They even sent a follow up email to make sure we were satisfied. It was a great stay! I love that they openly take dogs. My only issue is for people who don't know Kimpton how they can walk in and have a full fledge breakout or allergic reaction of some sort

We have stayed in a Queen room twice now and it is always a great experience. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. Location is perfect if you want to explore Old Town Alexandria during your stay or take the free trolley to the King St metro to explore DC. Great hotel for couples

Very accommodating staff. They will take care of every detail, Even if you forgot it, they will get it. Overnight valet parking $29/night though.
The only thing that kept this from being five stars was that there was not enough drawer space, no dressers to put you clothes. You have to live out of your suitcase.
Baring that. Everyone bent over backwards to help. Everything was clean and new looking. They were pet friendly but you didn't smell an animal or see due or any signs of them.
I hate being around pets, allergies smell etc, but I would go back there in a minute next time in Alexandria

Old Town Alexandria is the colonial heart of the nation's capital. This is George Washington's city. The Monaco is in the heart of the city. It should be outfitted in the attire of colonial America to fit the location. The service is exemplary. There are many exemplary restaurants in walking distance from this hotel. On Saturday there is a farmers market across the street.

We stayed at the Hotel Monaco for ten days during our recent move since we had our dog with us. I loved how there was a dog bed and bowls waiting for us in the room. We also received a doggie welcome bag when we arrived. The rooms are clean and comfortable. You can't beat the location in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. There is a lovely (and complimentary) happy hour each evening and the dogs are welcomed to attend as well. I would highly recommend staying at the Hotel Monaco even if you are a local. It is a great staycation hotel and you wouldn't have to hire a dog sitter/kennel for your four-legged family member.
