I had the chance to explore this museum as part of a prearranged tour. Our guide, Jessica, was very interesting and enthusiastic. The museum is very nearly the way it was when it opened in Opened in 1792 by young Quaker pharmacist Edward Stabler, the family business operated until 1933. Patrons included George & Martha Washington and Robert E. Lee. Over 15,000 objects still remain as part of the museum's collection - everything from herbs to bottles.
Walking through the various rooms and learning how illnesses were once treated made me feel like a part of history.
The gift shop was a bonus.
