We love Christ Church in Alexandria. This is a modern Episcopal Church in an historic setting, with lovely grounds. The people there are friendly, and signs of colonial times add to the overall feelings of inspiration.

In the middle of Cameron Street, you will find out this lovely church open to everyone. A small garden is open and you can cross it. Few graves are still laying on the grass. The church itself is well preserved.
This is a beautiful church, open to visitors so we walked through getting to see the marked pew where George Washington's family sat and also the marked pew where Robert E. Lee's family sat. Even though a wedding was scheduled and the caterers were setting up for the reception, the hostess at the door said we had plenty of time to walk through the church.
Lovely church. A very nice man showed me around and told me the history of the church. Immaculate condition. Free entry but can put donation in box for upkeep of church .
A very gracious lady allowed us to look around after the church service and before a scheduled wedding. We didn't have a docent to guide us but just being there and seeing the old box pews, especially George Washington's box, the overhanging, large pulpit, and the modest, plain altar (all in white) was quite moving. A tiny plaque on the altar rail notes that Robert E. Lee was confirmed there. Well worth a visit.
We had a chance to tour with a wonderful guide, who told us about the history of the building. We enjoy sitting in George Washington's pew.
