Great place to walk and take pictures. Excellent restaurants ( we love the Walrus) great oysters and seafood plus drinks. Fun view and all around place not to be missed while in the area!
Surprised my wife with a last minute DC trip via the Alexandria/National Harbor water taxi to National Mall. What an easy, fun way to see the sights along the Potomac. Made reservations for September but didn't really need them as the kids are back in school. Relaxing 30 min. boat ride puts you within a 15 min. walk to the Lincoln memorial.
I took the water taxi with a friend to visit the National Harbor Marina and Town Center, from Alexandria, Virginia. The water taxis is located at the end of King Street, along its harbor front, in between some very nice restaurants. There is entertaining activity throughout the day, i.e. musicians, artists, a juggler, on the Alexandria waterfront deck, where the taxis loads and unloads. The taxis runs efficiently throughout the day, and is a very relaxing ride. You can pay onsite. The ride takes approximately an hour to get to the National Harbor. It is a great way to visit the harbor, as driving there from the city can be hectic, with all the traffic on the beltway. I strongly suggest taking this alternative to enjoy a National Harbor day trip. Also, before you leave or on the return, also, enjoy the historic tours, shops, and restaurants on the Alexandria waterfront, as well. There is a fabulous Alexandria outdoor art street festival to check out, in mid-September.
My young boys loved traveling on the water and it was a great, peaceful trip. A video showing what Old Town Alexandria had to offer was played en route which was helpful for navigating the town when we arrived, plus water was available to drink. The crew was very friendly and even remembered us from our morning trip when we returned in the evening! We would definitely do this again!
I took the water taxi to National Harbor and enjoyed the relaxing ride. It was $8.00 one way or $16.00 round trip. A fun way to get around while sightseeing.
This was a very nice tour. The tour narrative was informative. The view from the upper deck was very nice. Easy to get tickets on both the Alexandria side and Georgetown are easy to obtain.
