After visiting Fushimi Inari and wandering down through the chaotic but fun row of street food stalls, sampling a few on our way, we found our way to this clean and modern eatery, all blonde wood and modern furnishings (including a delightful little bathroom) . It was around 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon and they were not offering their full menu. Just a simple bowl of Soba noodles and broth and a side plate of crunchy tempura shrimp and tempura vegetables. Maybe around $14 USD. It turned about being one of our favorite meals in Japan! It was so good that we tried to order basically the same meal at another well reviewed Kyoto restaurant later in our trip but for some reason that restaurant inexplicably served the bowl of Soba noodles with the shrimp tempura dunked in the bowl, soggy and wet. Why? They do it so much better here!
