The hotel is conveniently located along a pedestrian street. Get the hotel to provide specific directions as it can easily be missed. Feels like stepping into the past once you enter the premise. Full of old world charm and character. Very peaceful and quiet among the hustle and bustle. Manage expectations with regard to cleanliness. The staff do their best but the building is old. Ok for a one night stay.

The wooden door, the golden lock, the library ... the staircases to our room.. all with history! all look amazing! Locating at the centre of the prosperous area, u won't feel creepy staying at this over hundred years' hotel. Yes,there's only a ceiling fan in each room, no air condition provided , but we didn't feel any hotness at all, maybe because of its ancient and smart architecture structure? Combining with its stylish interior design and up to date equipment, make our stay quite convenience and comfortable.
This exquisite property is perfectly located in Kunming’s ancient city, literally steps from numerous restaurants and shops. We loved the movie set-like hotel atmosphere and wished we could have stayed more than two nights. (BTW, if you’re looking for closets or commodious drawers, you won’t find them here.)
There’s one huge deficit, though, brace yourself: Our room did *not* have a private toilet. The toilet was prominently placed in full view of most of our sizable room. Our friends in other rooms had varying degrees of toilet privacy. Not fun.
The Silver Chest is located in the ancient town part of Kunming. Very well located for dining, shopping, having a drink.

The hotel itself it quite impressive inside: it is an ancient property ('house' would be too minimalistic) that has been quite well preserved. There is a superb library.
The rooms are very nice and comfortable. Bathroom is very well equipped. All amenities present.
There are two terraces with sofas to relax.
No airco though, as the building is too ancient, but there are fans on the ceiling.

Friendly staff but hotel facility is very disappointing, Unless for those really want a worn out reminiscent old house type. The reply from hotel staff for my questions of why those peeling paints at building facade, why Guest has to walk through pouring rain without a shelter after checking in (of course hotel staff saved me with an umbrella but still got wet), why there is no aircon so that we smell mold in room ...is that “ this is a hundred year old building and we have to preserve it!” Come on, using this idea, we supposed to see peeling paint at forbidden city in Beijing, or Louvre in Paris ? I do not think the owner has sense of how morden will meet history, at a facility for travelling Guys, not historian!
酒店员工友好，但装修很失望！外墙油漆脱落，没有空调，房间很小，地毯霉味儿，下雨去前台要打伞……内饰毫无创意，墙上几张花鸟画，铝合金的推拉窗尽显敷衍的设计(如果还算有设计师), 房间设备没有方便之感……自称百年文物(一百年的房子对中国好像也不算什么), 但既然做酒店，还叫自己精品，价钱超五星的昆明其他酒店，就应该有尽心的设计，融合现代。把自己当文物就别改酒店，况且北京故宫的大门难道也别刷漆了？
您好，感谢您入住我们酒店。很遗憾给您的旅途带来了不便。酒店是六合同春的三进院的大宅，也是云南省唯一的一栋六合同春的院子，所以是文物保护单位。酒店经过了几百次的反复修葺之后才呈现了百年前的风貌，外墙的油漆已刷过，但是也是要显示以前的风格和年代的变迁。如果这样的保护让您觉得不够现代，那么我们深感抱歉。酒店是木质结构的房子，故不允许使用空调。但是房间内装有德国电机的超静音风扇，比空调的效果更好，冬天每间房也都准备了取暖设备。房间内及公区内的匾额和字画都是出自名家之手或是乾隆笔墨，或者古董。房间的工笔画也是很昂贵的艺术品。当然，可能这些对于您都不屑一顾。酒店也会在努力提升酒店的品味，让所有游客都能满意而归。
