This was our first time to visit Mauritius and we had booked using one of the tour operators from Bangalore,India. Upon arrival we were given welcome drink. Later we were taken to the room. Room which was given to us was comfortable.

This hotel has a small swimming pool and also this hotel is situated right next to the beach which makes even easier to laze around the beach and relax for a while.

The only thing which we did not like about the hotel is that they do not have their own boat house or diving school which most of the mauritius hotels have. Upon booking any hotel in the Mauritius most of the hotel gives you some complimentatory activities such as kayaking, pedal boat , snorkelling e.t.c they do not have any such activities hosted.

The location of the hotel is "Flic en Flac" which is south west of Mauritius. South West of Mauritius is more quiet and less tourist attraction.

If you are an avid adventurist then I would recommend you to book in the north of Mauritius where most of the water activities are in the north or else each time you decide to do any water activity such as wind surfing, water skiing or scuba diving you need to travel to north of Mauritius which is 1:30 hours from Flic en Flac through the bus (one bus from flic-en-flac to Port Louise and another from PortLouise to Troux aux-biches)

If you need a place only to relax or laze around the beach then this is the perfect place for you to stay.

As the heading say's.. the resort itself looks lovely... though we were staying at one further down the road & decided to try the Gold Beach Restaurant for an evening meal. The location is gorgeous on the beach but the meal & price left a lot to be desired. We tried the set menu.. the starter was reasonably tasty.. we were then offered lamb or chicken for our mains. My friend & I tried the chicken. Unfortunately it did not taste of look like any chicken we have ever had!!. odd bland meat with small shoulder & knuckle type bones in it.. very strange.. least said soonest mended I'd say

Travelled to Mauritius for the first time with the family and had the most amazing stay at the Gold Beach Resort. Upon arrival late at night, the hotel staff were absolutely pleasant. The kitchen staff worked tirelessly and always with a smile to ensure that all our requests were met. The hotel, being located right on the beach, is very very beautiful and quite cozy. It is one of the best hotels where you can get complete relaxation.

I proposed to my fiance at the hotel, and the hotel staff went out of their way to congratulate us and make it the most special including offering us a complimentary bottle of champagne.

It was one of the most memorable stays at the hotel and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Mauritius.

We arrived late at night by airport shuttle to the resort. The staff met us on arrival with smiles and accommodated us for a late dinner and cocktails. Our rooms were neat & clean with aircon and TV and just what was required for a holiday away from our busy city life.

A wide variety on the breakfasts buffet with various options of fresh fruit, yoghurt, crepes, cereals, eggs, bacon, sausages, breads, croutons, jams and they also accommodated vegetarians.

There is an option to order in for lunch however we were exploring the island and never had an option to try out the lunch menus.

Buffet dinner changed every evening experiencing the exciting Mauritian cuisines. Choices of salads, and desert were also offered. Chicken & Fish being their main dishes. The staff also went out of their way to accommodate vegetarians and made special meals on requests.

An array of tropical cocktails were available at the Cabana Bar for a relaxing sunset drink while watching the sunset every evening. Sago dancers entertained us and we partied the night away.

Although some people complaint of having no Wifi we experienced no problems however the connection was slow due to the Wifi reception.

We were further surprised to get back to our room to find towels in the shapes of swans with petals laid on our bed and a birthday cake for my husbands birthday.

The staff were very friendly, complimentary and helpful and went out of their way to accommodate us with all our queries being from reception desk, cleaners, restaurant staff and management.

A recommendation would be to get a Mauritian sim card as calls work out cheaper.
We utilized our debit cards at the local SBM bank (ATM) to draw rupees (bank charges were low).

Lovely market shops opposite the resort and in walking distance offering souveniers which you can barter for.

A must is a visit by speed boat/catamaran to the Ilx Aux Cerfs Island to see the waterfall.

South Tour on Sic visit to the Valley Des Couleurs was exciting with offering of quad bike tours, buggy tours, various zip lines, entrance fee is additional. Food offering at the local restaurant not appetising and pricey.

Hiring of a motorbike and riding to Tamarin bay was an experience. We found a beach restaurant next to Lux Hotel ordered a burgher (Slider) and refreshment at very reasonable price.

For a total different day we visited the racecourse. Their was an entrance fee for the men only. You would need to take rupees if you want to take any bets as there is no ATM's at the racecourse. Everyone was dressed smartly.

Boat ride offerings directly on the beach to see dolphins, snorkelling, fishing, or to go to various parts of the island is available. A suggestion is to check with the hotel if there are any tours available and to get a group to go together to save on costs.

Thank you to all the staff at Gold Beach Resort for making our stay a memorable one we will definitely be back.

As needed, we found a beach-facing resort in Mauritius which is worth its rating since their private beach with sea facing pool is point of attraction.
Evening bar near the pool is awesome.
Staff at reception can be more cordial, overall it's perfect if you are one of silent beach lovers.
